The successful applicant will be a part in Liberton Kirk’s task of Christian Mission to the users of the church and Kirk Centre. They will assist the Café Manager in running the café and making sure it is welcoming.

Liberton Kirk is an active congregation of the Church of Scotland situated in the South of Edinburgh. As well as the church building, we have a large suite of Halls known as the Kirk Centre which is at the forefront of our evangelistic outreach to the local community.

We are advertising for a Facilities Coordinator. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting Liberton Kirk’s task of Christian mission to the users of the church and the Kirk Centre, working closely with volunteers, church staff and members of the local community and taking a leading role in their Christian nurture. They will maintain Liberton Kirk’s buildings so that they are clean, tidy and welcoming and oversee the operation of the Kirk Centre and church buildings.

The successful applicant will be expected to take up residence in the tied accommodation provided – a comfortable, recently upgraded 3 bedroom flat.

Introduction

As well as the church building, we have a large suite of Halls which play a key role in our outreach to the local community. The café is situated in the foyer leading to the suite of halls and plays a large part in our connections with the community.

Role

Kirkgate café is managed by the café manager/cook with the support of local volunteers and is open for service 9am until 2pm from Monday to Thursday. The role requires a motivated person to take on this important position, who will have a passion for the people visiting our Church Centre and must be able to create and maintain a warmly hospitable cafe environment, showing Christian love in action reaching out to the community as a whole. Overseen by the minister, Café Board and the Kirk Session, who support the Centre Management Team, the successful candidate must be able to work with the Ministers, staff and volunteers.
