Looking for a new CEO position that will allow a national membership organisation to be more agile, dynamic, and forward looking?
To raise the profile of architects in Scotland, The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) has recognised a need for a paradigm shift in its organisation and responsiveness to contemporary management and delivery challenges. Following a review of ongoing and future challenges for membership organisations and their services, the RIAS Council is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will lead, collaborate and enable the RIAS to be an agile membership organisation.
Architecture is changing and there has never been a more vital time for the RIAS to be active and help to shape Scotland’s conversation about architecture and the built environment. Founded in 1916, the RIAS holds a unique position in Scotland and the new role will create an opportunity to engage with, support, and harness the creative energy of Scotland’s architectural community.
Through its members, the RIAS has the opportunity to facilitate open, constructive and inspiring conversations to help the Scottish Government and Scotland’s communities understand how architecture and the built environment can help to unlock some of Scotland’s key challenges including the climate targets for Scotland.
With headquarters in Edinburgh and a staff team of 15, the RIAS offers a wide range of services and products for architects, students of architecture, construction industry professionals and all those with an interest in the built environment and the design process across Scotland - and there is scope for more.
The CEO will provide dynamic and inspiring leadership to help the RIAS deliver existing services along with developing new services that members will need to enable them to rise to the challenges of rapidly changing professional roles in an evolving construction environment.
The RIAS is seeking a candidate with proven leadership skills who can operate at a strategic level, with a natural ability to command, challenge, negotiate and inspire. As a natural ambassador, the CEO will bring inspiration and vision to the RIAS and reflect the passion and energy of the sector.
With impressive communications skills, the CEO will lead our organisation internally and externally, interacting with the membership, policy makers, government, professional bodies and regulatory authorities.
This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of an ambitious organisation where your voice, your ideas and your contribution will have a critical impact on our success, on opportunities for our members and on the future of our profession.
