Our small hardworking team of staff at Ronald McDonald House Glasgow are dedicated to helping those families who need us at the most stressful and vulnerable time of their lives.

We have been providing support to thousands of families with seriously ill children in hospital for over twenty-six years and we provide a cost free home away from home for families with children receiving care and undergoing treatment at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and other hospitals in the west of Scotland. We are totally funded by donations and are open and staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

For families with an ill child the House is a fantastic haven at a stressful time when their child’s stay in hospital requires them to be close by.

We are looking for a full-time Events Fundraiser to join us to maximise the charity’s fundraising ability, help raise our profile and play a key role in our success.

What’s involved?

With solid experience in, leading, developing and delivering a calendar of successful income generating events you will lead on Ronald McDonald House Glasgow aspirations to maximise success in financially profitable event opportunities.

You will have demonstrable experience of creating and updating website, social media content and press releases. You will be conversant with liaising with the media and able to actively seek out opportunities for positive press coverage for events, and other charity activities.

Who we are looking for

You will be a highly organised person skilled in running events. You will have the ability to deal calmly with the unexpected. An effective communicator who is confident reaching out to familiar and new audiences to raise the profile of the charity and source new supporters.

House Manager

For 365 days a year Ronald McDonald House Glasgow provides a home away from home and support for families whose children are receiving care in the Royal Hospital for Children.

For families with a sick child in hospital our House is a safe haven that allows parents to stay close to their child without having to travel long distances. Families stay free of charge and there is no time limit on the accommodation – once a family is allocated a room it is theirs until their child is discharged from hospital. We have 31 bedrooms, a large kitchen and laundry facilities. Families can eat, sleep, and focus on the most important thing – the health of their child.

We are now looking for an experienced professional who has the ability to thrive in a demanding role and who can be flexible in their working hours to be available to manage the safe operational running of our House and team that supports it to ensure our doors stay open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. We run a happy home, even though the people staying with us are going through challenging times. Our small team are dedicated to helping keep families together at the most vulnerable and stressful time of their lives and you will be able to deal with people from all walks of like with sensitivity and compassion at the highest level.

What’s involved?

Reporting to the House Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running, line management of staff and administration to ensure the smooth operation of the House and all the Operational and Health & Safety aspects are looked after and budgeted for accordingly to ensure the House is safe and secure. You’ll work with the Board to implement policy and provide regular reports on the management of the House, Health and Safety, Security and family statistics and build relationships with staff at all levels in our partner hospitals.

Who are we are looking for?

This role would suit someone who has experience of running a shared accommodation facility such as a Care Facility, Hotel, School/University, and Hospital Service or similar, where you have managed the Operational, Facilities, Safety, HR, Policy, Budgeting and Customer facing aspects of your role.

You must have experience in managing a team and be comfortable undertaking appraisals, development plans and HR practices and be able to set and achieve targets within agreed expenditure budgets.

You will also be experienced in implementing Health & Safety requirements and have experience in being audited.

You will have the highest level of experience in a customer-focused environment and be proficient with Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Above all you will have a real desire to make a difference to the families who stay with us.

Working Hours:

This is a Full-time permanent post 37.5 hours per week.

Hours of work are between 7:00am and 9:00pm Monday to Friday / 9am to 6pm Saturday & Sunday Flexibility is required to ensure that the House is fully staffed 365 days per year. This will involve being part of the ‘on call’ rota for emergency purposes and may require actual attendance at the House.

You will be a main point of contact in the House, providing a friendly, professional and efficient front of house service and administration support to our families and visitors, House team and on occasion the Fundraising team.

Who are we are looking for?

We’re looking for a part-time House Administrator to join our team and make a huge difference to families at the most difficult of times by providing ‘home away from home’ support.

You will have experience in a customer-focused environment and be proficient with Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word and Excel.

You will enjoy working with people and working to deadlines be educated to SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent through on-going professional/personal development or have demonstrable experience through customer service and administration roles. Above all you will have a real desire to make a difference to the families who stay with us.

Working Hours:

Flexibility from the candidate is required to cover a minimum of 52 hours over a 2 week shift period between the hours of 7am and 9pm, Monday - Sunday. (A shift would normally vary between 6 and 9 hours) There may be also times when we would ask you to cover annual leave/absences etc.

Length of Post: Initial 10 month contract.

What’s involved?

The Fundraising Administrator will provide essential administrative, data, financial and supporter management for our small but ambitious fundraising team.

Based in our “House” on the site of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children Glasgow, you will be a main point of contact for fundraising enquiries, providing friendly, professional and efficient administration support to our fundraising team, families, visitors and supporters.

You will help build relationships with supporters by talking to them about the work that we do, efficiently record their donations and communications and send thank you emails and letters through our fundraising database Harlequin. You will also monitor and report on fundraising activity and targets, assist us in research, organising events and fundraising activities and post updates on our work via newsletters and our social media and networking platforms.

Who are we are looking for?

You will have experience of recording, communications and financial information onto a database and demonstrable experience of dealing with and responding to enquiries and supporting requests for information from supporters.

You will be a friendly, motivated team player with strong organisational, written, oral, social media and collaboration skills to successfully promote this much-loved Glasgow based charity

You will enjoy working with people and working to deadlines. Above all you will have a real desire to make a difference to the families who stay with us.

This job would suit someone who has worked for a charity before or who has strong database and administration skills with an understanding of the third sector.

We are looking for a full-time Individual Giving and Database Manager to join us in this new post to grow the charity’s fundraising ability and play key role in our success.

What’s involved?

With solid experience in managing databases, ideally with Blackbaurd’s eTapestry, you will lead on Ronald McDonald House Glasgow, aspirations to develop and implement a strategy for increasing income across all individual giving streams, and drive the organisation’s understanding and development of its supporters / families to maximise fundraising income.

Who we are looking for

Ideally you will have considerable experience of data management and development of individual giving and have a great understanding of the Third Sector.

You’ll have solid abilities and a willingness to share knowledge. You’ll be able to interpret and communicate your work to colleagues in a language they can easily understand and undertake effective training.
