Home-Start Stirling is a local charity that has been providing support to families who have young children who are experiencing challenging times for 20 years. Our service is tailored to a family’s own needs and is as unique as the families we support. It is facilitated both within the home, community and group setting by our team of trained volunteers and dedicated and qualified staff.
Home-Start Stirling is governed by an experienced Board of Trustees who have a range of skills and talents. The Board meets every six weeks with sub-group meetings in between to review the overall governance and success of the organisation.
We are keen to recruit a new Treasurer (the post is currently vacant) to work in partnership with the Manager to oversee the financial elements of the organisation. A good understanding of bookkeeping, accounting and budgets would be desirable for this role. Home-Start Stirling uses a financial management package called Paxton for Charities and an understanding of this would be an advantage but not essential.
We are looking to recruit a permanent Family Support Coordinator to join our team based in Raploch. Home-Start Stirling works with families who have at least one child under the age of five years and are experiencing challenging times. Home-Start Stirling provides support within the family home by trained volunteers with the aim of helping families to achieve lasting change that will improve the early life environment for their children. As Family Support Coordinator you will be expected to coordinate support to families, provide support and supervision to volunteers allocated to families on your caseload, some direct work with parents and children and this could include facilitation of some groupwork. This post has the added responsibility of facilitation of our VIG service (Video Interactive Guidance) and previous training and accreditation in VIG would be desirable, but as full training and accreditation can be provided, a willingness to work towards accreditation in this area is essential.
Previous experience of working with children and families is essential. Facilitation of training and working with volunteers would be desirable. Experience of working within the Third Scetor mwould be an advantage.
Full driving licence and use of a car would be desirable but not essential.
This post is also subject to registration with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) and therefore the candidate will have to hold a minimum level of HNC/SVQ 3 qualification in a related field.
