Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents/main carers play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them to achieve their full potential. Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde is a local independent charity which has been set up to give friendship, advice and practical support to families who live in the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde areas and who have at least one child under the age of 5.

Volunteer Liaison Officer (Inverclyde)

Home-Start Renfrewshire & Inverclyde have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Liaison Officer to join their growing service in Inverclyde.

Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde promotes the welfare of families with at least one young child under 5, helping to build strong families and prevent family breakdown. The successful candidate will be based in Greenock. You will have similar experience in a work-related capacity together with excellent IT and communication skills.

Main responsibilities:

• Be the first point of contact for all Volunteer enquiries, responding to the majority and sign posting to colleagues and other organisations as necessary.

• Recruit, select and prepare volunteers in partnership with Family Support Coordinators.

• When required help to manage and deliver training courses to newly recruited volunteers alongside Family Support Coordinators.

• Identify and manage facilitation of additional volunteer training.

• Maintain regular contact with volunteers awaiting match families or who are resting (on hold) from volunteering.

• Organise Peer Support Sessions alongside Family Support Coordinators.

• Facilitate Volunteer events including fundraising activities.

• Ensure all record keeping is accurate and up to date.

• Support Senior Coordinator with PVG paperwork.

• Raise awareness of Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde’s services locally and surrounding areas.

• Work in partnership with local Statutory and Voluntary organisations within GIRFEC framework.

Administration Assistant

Home-Start Renfrewshire & Inverclyde have an exciting opportunity for an Administration Assistant to join their growing service in Inverclyde.

Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde promotes the welfare of families with at least one young child, helping to build strong families and prevent family breakdown. The successful candidate will be based in Greenock and will provide operational administrative support for Home-Start’s Inverclyde service. You will have administration experience in a work related capacity together with excellent IT and communication skills.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide all aspects of administrative support for a small, dynamic and fast paced organisation.
  • Conduct all data input as required for the purpose of the role.
  • Contribute to social media administration and input.
  • Support the Family Support Co-ordinators in the recruitment and administration of our volunteers and volunteer training.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Administer petty cash and expenses in line with our procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist and support the Senior Coordinator/Administrator in all office management requirements.
  • Any other duties that that required to fulfil the needs of the organisation.

Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde promotes the welfare of families with at least one young child, helping to build strong families and prevent family breakdown. The successful candidate will be based in Paisley and will provide facilitate two family groups for Home-Start’s Renfrewshire service. You will have similar experience in a work-related capacity together with excellent IT and communication skills.

Main responsibilities:

• Facilitate and manage two weekly Family Group sessions, with responsibility for planning and preparing content of sessions, including activities, refreshments and speakers.

• Maintain a caseload of all group-only Renfrewshire families.

• Provide administration requirements for all Renfrewshire Home-Start Groups.

• Work co-operatively with the Home-Start Staff team and Trustees to ensure plans are discussed and issues resolved and that all family, safety, service and financial records are completed, kept up to date, monitored and reported.

• Develop the profile, awareness and understanding of the service across the Renfrewshire area.

• Assist and support the Scheme Manager / Senior Coordinator in all office management requirements.

• Any other duties that that required to fulfil the needs of the organisation.

Main responsibilities:

• Receiving referrals and assessing needs of families.

• Introducing families to appropriate support.

• Recruiting, selecting and preparing suitable volunteers.

• Matching and introducing volunteers to families.

• To undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.

• Undertaking work as delegated by the senior member of staff to support the strategic management, development and future funding of the scheme.

• Supporting the implementation and review of all Home-Start policies and procedures.

• Complying with the scheme’s administration, monitoring and financial systems.

• Promoting the work of the scheme, as required by the Senior Worker

• Contributing to and supporting the development of the Home-Start network locally, regionally and nationally

Main responsibilities:

  • Support families experiencing difficulties and challenges living in Inverclyde.
  • Provide home visiting and outreach support for families to help them achieve emotionally healthier, less isolated, more active lives within the local community.
  • Work in partnership with parents and carers to empower and enable them to achieve positive outcomes for their children.
  • Encourage parents to play and engage with their children and become involved with their child’s early learning and development.
  • Provide information and support for parents on a whole range of issues, signposting to specialist advice when appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with other professionals/organisations working with the family to ensure the best possible outcome for parents and their children.
  • Attend relevant meetings and liaise with related agencies to the benefit of families.
  • To be responsible for case note recording, report writing and maintaining records.
  • Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare as per the safeguarding policy and procedure.

Main responsibilities:

  • To run a weekly Parent Peer Support Group for families with children (under 5) from Greenock and the surrounding area, in line with Home-Start’s mission to support parenting and encourage them to enjoy the positive aspects of parenting and family life.
  • Receiving referrals from the Family Support Co-ordinators and assessing these within agreed criteria;
  • Providing a warm and welcoming environment for parents
  • Planning and preparing the content of sessions, including refreshments, activities and speakers;
  • Ensuring new parents are integrated into the group.
