Charity registered in Scotland SC033344
Do you find yourself wanting more from your role? Wanting to do work that truly makes a difference in people’s lives? If so, maybe it’s time for a change. Maybe it’s time to consider a role where you’ll be helping people at the most difficult time in their lives, truly making a difference to them.
Asbestos Action is a Dundee based charity, which aims to provide support and guidance to people suffering from asbestos-related lung diseases by offering, and delivering, personalised, tailored practical support. We are a small, but unique charity, that has now been well established for over 20 years and provides a vital service to people – with only three asbestos charities in all of Scotland, the importance of the work that we do cannot be overstated.
Owing to our continued growth, we are seeking to employ a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Support and Benefits Advisor, to ensure that people affected by asbestos-related disease receive relevant help support. In this role, you will provide end to end practical and emotional support, as well as helping complete benefit applications, ensuring all appropriate benefits are applied for, assisting with mandatory reconsiderations, and appeals, where necessary. Please note that whilst the post is being advertised as full-time, we are flexible in this regard and are willing to negotiate hours to ensure that we find the right candidate.
Asbestos Action is committed to delivering services that support the management of our clients’ health and wellbeing, ensuring access to high quality services across Scotland. As well as helping clients to access crucial welfare benefits services, you will be responsible for guiding them through one of the most traumatic times in their lives – providing support, empathy and forging close, fulfilling relationships in the process.
In joining the team, you will also have the opportunity to make your mark on the role, as well as the flexibility to get involved in other areas of the charity’s work, providing exciting opportunities for development. Training will be made available for the successful candidate, to enable them to specialise as an advisor for people with asbestos-related disease. If appointed, an enhanced DBS check will be required prior to employment commencing.
We want you to ask yourself…
• Am I an enthusiastic individual with, patience and empathy for others; someone who can take a holistic approach to a client’s circumstances, and signpost or refer to other relevant organisations and agencies for matters when necessary?
• Can I work independently, and as part of a team at a fast pace, whilst remaining calm, professional, and dedicated to helping clients?
• Do I have experience working with individuals, to maximise their income through welfare benefits, possibly by delivering advice within the voluntary sector?
• Am I keen to travel throughout the East of Scotland, visiting new places and getting to meet new people?
We are looking for a responsible Administrator to organize our charity’s day-to-day operations. Your job will be to provide clerical support to our manager and employees and coordinate all daily administrative activities. Ultimately, a successful Administrator should be able to ensure our office procedures run smoothly.
