Fife Carers Centre is a well-regarded and well established organisation who have been supporting thousands of family and unpaid carers throughout Fife since 1995. We work with adult carers on a one to one basis and in groups. We support carers in their caring role with relevant and straightforward information as well as practical help. We give information and the means to use it to carers on a wide range of topics from applying for benefits to learning more about the condition affecting the person you care for. Most importantly we will work with the carer to protect their own physical, emotional, mental and financial health whilst they maintain their caring role.

We now have an opportunity to bring in new members to our team to meet the ever growing need to support unpaid carers in new and diverse ways.

You will be working as part of the Localities Carer Support Worker Team covering the Kirkcaldy and NE Fife localities. Your case will be in Kirkcaldy but you will also be working from home and in the community.

You will be based at the Fife Carers Centre in Kirkcaldy but as part of normal work will be expected to travel throughout Fife, particularly Kirkcaldy and NE Fife areas.

Your work will include providing a sensitive, person centred support service for unpaid and family carers. You’ll be assisting carers to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing by providing carers with a comprehensive information service to enable them to make informed choices about their own emotional, physical and economic wellbeing. This will include giving one to one support to carers in order that they know how to access services helping them to develop self advocacy and, where necessary, advocate on the carers behalf. You’ll be supporting carers to identify and achieve their own outcomes using the Carer Support Planning process and providing carers with a benefit check, assisting with benefit applications and very importantly providing a listening ear for carers.

The post is part time for 28 hours a week.

As a Hospital based Carer Support Worker you will be working as part of the Fife Carers Centre Hospital Carer Support Workers team covering hospitals in Fife. This post is based primarily at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline. You’ll be working with hospital staff to identify family and unpaid carers of patients and will then work with those carers to identify concerns and ways in which you can help them in their caring role. The goal being a successful and supported discharge of the person they care for and improving their own confidence and knowledge. The successful candidate will work with an established worker also based in the hospital. The post is part time for 21 hours a week.

This is an exciting and unusual opportunity for the right person!

As Training and Information Office your role will be an integral part of the overall Fife Carers Centre team. You will be identifying training needs for carers, staff and workers in other organisations. You will develop and deliver training and information sessions as well as sourcing alternative solutions to training needs. You will be providing up to date, relevant and accessible information for carers, staff and workers in other organisations and using a range of methods to convey it including maintaining this website, updating Facebook and Twitter, writing bulletins, and producing leaflets, booklets, posters and flyers. You will help to produce and manage information on behalf of colleagues and the board of directors.

You will organise consultation groups with carers and collate the information gathered.

You will represent Fife Carers Centre as a public speaker and on relevant working groups.

The post is part time for 21 hours a week.

We work with adult carers on a one to one basis and in groups. We support carers in their caring role with relevant and straightforward information as well as practical help. We spend time with carers listening and using the Adult Carer Support Plan and Emergency Planning tools to help carers to think about how their life is affected by their caring role along with what are their aspirations and concerns for the future. We give information and the means to use it to carers on a wide range of topics from applying for benefits to learning more about the condition affecting the person they care for. Most importantly we will work with the carer to protect their own physical, emotional, mental and financial health whilst they maintain their caring role.

As a Carer Support Worker you will be working one to one with carers in the community, you'll see a diverse mix of caring situations and you will be ready to help with compassion, understanding, efficiency, knowledge and imagination as well as humour and a lightness of touch.

Fife Carers Centre has a wonderful opportunity for the right person to make a big impression on the mental wellbeing of carers in Fife. This new post will focus on carers who need support with their own mental health as well as carers of people with mental health conditions.

We recognise that carers are operating under enormous pressure much of the time and as a result many find themselves struggling to maintain their own mental health. The Mental Health Carer Support worker will use their knowledge and experience and combine it with imagination, energy, creativity and flair to help carers develop sturdiness and resilience in their mental wellbeing, equip them with the tools and skills to recognise when they need to pay attention and take care of themselves and to help them plan a way to develop and retain good mental health. You'll also help carers of people with Mental Health conditions understand those conditions and learn how best to support that person.

This is a new post so you have the chance to develop something that combines working one to one and group work, activities and therapies - and to try out ideas that will make a difference. You will work with the excellent Fife Carers Centre Carer Support Team and develop relationships with other organisations to deliver a programme of support that really works for the carers in Fife.

Imagine that someone you care about is in hospital and it becomes clear that they will need help to manage life when they are discharged and then you realise that you will be the person giving that help! Along with the worry of thinking about their future wellness you might be wondering about what will you be expected to do and able to do, how will you know what help is available to support you looking after them, do you need equipment or adaptations in your home, is there financial help available? All of these questions and many more will be on your mind. Wouldn't it be a relief to know that there is someone close at hand able to help find the answers for you?

Carers are crucial to discharge from hospital being successful and sustained, but they need knowledge, confidence, and support to help it happen. Fife Carers Centre Hospital Carer Support Workers work with carers of people who are currently in hospital helping them to be ready for the individual to be discharged. You will help carers to understand what is happening with the cared for whilst they're in hospital and help to understand what will happen prior to and after discharge. You'll look at the ways in which the carer can be supported and work with colleagues and other organisations to provide that support. This might include Welfare Benefit applications, Emergency Planning, Carer Support Planning and Future planning, advocacy, as well as dealing with the individual ways in which the carers life might be impacted.

As part of the Fife Carers Centre Hospital Carer Support Worker team you will work mainly from Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline but will also support carers of individuals in Lynebank Hospital. You will see carers in the community as well as in Hospital. Some of the work will be remote working and you will visit Fife Carers Centre on a regular basis.

We're looking for someone who is the right person for the job, you'll be compassionate and care about the carer's experience and want to work with them to help maintain their health and wellbeing. You'll use your knowledge, experience and creativity to develop an efficient and effective service to carers
