We have developed an exciting new partnership with Scottish Government to support the roll out of a Carbon Neutral Schools Project with primary and secondary school age children and young people on the Scottish Islands, using a youth work & schools’ approach.
We have identified the need for a development worker role which will suit an experienced youth worker/educator who is passionate about empowering and upskilling young people on the Scottish Islands on sustainability, climate change and carbon neutral initiatives. This role will be part of our Young Islanders Network/Youth Work and Training Team
Youth Scotland, Scotland’s national charity for the support and delivery of community-based youth work, would love you to come and join our dynamic team. We are looking for an experienced worker who has great skills in engaging young people, with experience of life on the Scottish islands and the passion to lead the development of Scotland’s Young Islanders Network.
Youth Scotland supports over 1,600 youth groups across the country which provide youth work opportunities for more than 74,000 young people. These young people are supported by over 8,000 youth workers including 5,000 volunteers.
Our range of accredited youth awards recognise thousands of young people’s learning and achievements every year.
The Young Islanders Network will provide opportunities for young people in Scotland’s island communities to share their experiences, have their voices heard, shape decision-making about issues that impact their lives and ensure that the National Islands Plan fully considers their interests and priorities.

This post will be home-based on the Scottish islands with an expectation of travel (subject to Covid-19 restrictions) between islands and, on occasion, to Youth Scotland head office in Edinburgh.

We are looking for an experienced senior manager, preferably with an active involvement in the youth work sector, to lead the development of new youth work programmes, including our suite of accredited youth awards, and to effectively manage our key relationships with funders and partners.
You will have great skills, and should have an excellent track record, in researching, developing, leading and reporting on successful funding proposals to government and government agencies, lottery, trusts and foundations; and in securing other income generation opportunities.
