This is a very exciting time to join our Students’ Union as we continue to improve and expand the range of digital opportunities to communicate and engage with our members across all five of the University campuses in Paisley, Ayr, Lanarkshire, Dumfries and London. This post will be essential in bringing to life all aspects of the work we do to support students and ensure they have an excellent student experience.

Student Representation & Training Coordinator

This is a very exciting time to join our Students’ Union as we have emerged from the COVID cocoon with a bang! This role exists to lead on the development and delivery of in person and online training to Student Reps, Society leaders, Sabbatical Officers, Staff and external organisations. This includes bespoke and enhanced training opportunities for the development of leadership skills and the Unions priority areas of work. The post holder will support the administration and development of the student representation system.

The successful candidate will help develop the Unions capacity building in order to improve the quality of work and productivity and will act as the quality controller for all training and development activities. They will also undertake regular analysis of organisational knowledge, skills and abilities and make recommendations to the management team on developmental activities and implement changes as directed.

Student Engagement & Representation Coordinator (London)

This is a very exciting time to join our Students’ Union as we have emerged from the COVID cocoon with a bang! This is the first time our Student Union will have a staff member in post at the new London campus. The successful applicant will lead on the introduction and piloting a range of Student Union services that encourage and support students, including the development of societies and supporting the activities of student representatives.

A key aspect of this role will be evidencing the impact of our services and gathering the views of students about their University experience to inform future Union and University service provision.

There are many facets to this role. It is a very people focussed role with regular interactions with staff, students, and partner organisations. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in Scotland and our UWS colleagues based in London as well as our partners in other student unions in the local area.

If you’re passionate about representation and policy, we have the opportunity for you.

Our Award winning Students Union is looking for a Student Representation and Policy Coordinator to cover maternity leave in our staff team. The position is available for at least a year beginning in June 2022 until the end of June 2023.

About the Role

This role exists to provide a comprehensive support base for the democratic and representative work of UWS Union. The role will support our reps in their activities, conduct and coordinate research and provide briefings on University papers and decisions for our elected full-time officers.

The post holder will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of our online student council, which sets our Union’s policies, by supporting our Union Chair Officer to lead the Student Council. The post holder will also set the agenda and circulate any relevant papers before each meeting.

The successful candidate will also take the information that we receive in surveys, University briefings and face-to-face feedback from students and interpret this information to create easy to understand briefings for our elected officers.

This role will provide specialist advice and support on matters of UWS policy and general student enquiries, helping students understand their options to help them make the best choices for them. The role will also help students access appropriate UWS support and distribute the Union’s hardship funding. The post-holder will be committed to providing a supportive and welcoming service to all our members.
