The Ripple is an independent community organisation and registered charity which was originally established by St Margaret’s Parish Church in Restalrig in 1996. With the help of around 100 volunteers annually we work to improve the quality of life for residents of all ages in the Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny area of Edinburgh, by helping people to help themselves. The areas we serve face significant health inequalities. The Ripple has grown since it was first established and from our base at Restalrig Lochend Community Hub and elsewhere in the community we currently deliver 18 of our own projects, as well as host and/or work in partnership with a range of other relevant community services.

It says it all in the name really! … We are looking for a values-led individual with relevant skills and experience to join our team at The Ripple.

You’ll be energetic, self-motivated and committed to working with individuals and the community to support our work in developing people and places.

This work will include making sure people are heard and are influential in their local place as well as exploring what opportunities there are for community wealth building.

If you can help establish partnerships and networks, support individual and community development through volunteering, advice, support, and social action then please read the fuller job description and personal specification.

The Community Action Worker will work closely with our wellbeing co-ordinator, individuals and groups developing skills needed to establish activities in response to community needs and wishes.

This positions presents an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a significant contribution to the work of the Ripple and the people we serve.
