We are looking for a values-led individual with suitable food and cooking skills and experience to join us to lead the development and delivery of the Community Cafe. You’ll have an understanding of how to make the cafe a place for local people from a wide range of ages, abilities and background not just to eat but to come together to improve their lives and help tackle food and health inequalities, loneliness & isolation. You’ll be good at building relationships and building community through food. You’ll know how to construct a menu which is about more than food and be able to support a variety of activities within the running of the café including supporting volunteers. You’ll know how to manage change and look ahead as well as deal with the here and now.

Over the last 20 years the Ripple has worked with older people to provide activities, trips, entertainment and volunteering opportunities for our over 65’s as an integral part of the Ripple’s offer to the community it serves. We are now in a position to recruit a fulltime project officer for this role to develop in collaboration with our older people and the wider community.
You should have a passion for people, be warm and empathetic and believe that older people have a vital contribution to make to any community. You will understand the challenges that our older population faces and be committed to delivering opportunities that promote health and wellbeing and fun.

Restalrig, Lochend & Craigentinny is a disadvantaged, vulnerable and fragile community, amongst the most deprived in Scotland, our individuals and families face the challenges that poverty, health, and social inequalities bring on a daily basis.
The Ripple is rooted in the local community, provides a focus and a ‘sense of belonging’ for an area with little other social or economic investment. Our aim is to tackle poverty and inequality by listening to and then taking action with local people to regenerate our community. We respond to local priorities, circumstances and needs in a sustainable way to help the people of Restalrig, Lochend and Craigentinny to help themselves to:

We are looking for a values-led individual with suitable skills and experience to join our youth work team to deliver the Ripple Youth Service. You’ll have an understanding of the challenges that our young people face in today’s world and will be good at building relationships. You’ll have a positive regard and enthusiasm for working with young people in both structured and less formal ways and will understand the responsibilities that being a youth worker brings. If you can bring patience and a sense of humour when supporting our young people to maximise their opportunities, then we want to hear from you.
