Project/Office Manager

We are now looking to grow our team and recruit a dedicated full-time energetic Office Manager based in our office at Newcraighall Road, Edinburgh (currently working from home) who will be responsible for the day to day running of the charity. Pain Concern supports people living with chronic pain and their families and carers thought the UK.

This is a full-time position, leading and managing a team of 3 employees and up to 30 volunteers. You will report to the Board of Trustees and support them in the organisation’s continuing development.

The Manager is key to Pain Concern’s purpose and values, with varied responsibilities that include:

  • working with Trustees to develop and deliver strategic objectives;
  • ensuring the effective day to day management of the charity;
  • leading, developing and supporting staff and volunteers;
  • working in partnership with other organisations; managing administrative and financial systems; and
  • making use of information to assess the organisation’s impact.

We are looking for a self-motivated, organised, efficient, innovative, professional individual who is a real people person. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills with some previous office management experience and is used to working on multiple projects simultaneously in addition to the below listed responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Reporting to and supporting the Board of Trustees to deliver the current 3-year strategic plan
  • Representation and networking within the pain community, building effective relationships, and developing collaborative working with key partners
  • Promoting Pain Concern through effective communication
  • Ensuring fundraising required to support the organisation’s current and future budget

Leading Staff and Volunteers

  • Day to day management and support of staff, ensuring wellbeing, support, supervision and opportunities for learning and development
  • Promoting strong team working and active participation of staff in the development of the organisation
  • Dealing with day-to-day staffing matters in accordance with Pain Concern’s policies
  • Ensuring our dedicated volunteers and employees have a great experience when they are in the office or at home.
  • Being able to ‘muck in’ with whatever is needed to keep the office running smoothly

Good Governance

  • Ensuring the organisation’s policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed
  • Ensuring effective administration and financial systems are in place
  • Ensuring good financial management, control and reporting of the budget
  • Implementing the organisation’s online monitoring processes, so that impact of activities can be assessed
  • Analysing and using data for performance management, reporting and review

The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.

Due to the nature of the charity, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a PVG check.
