Children and Young People Counsellors

As one of the largest providers of school-based counselling services in Scotland, The Spark is committed to ensuring all children and young people (CYP) have access to appropriate, professional support to cope with challenging life experiences.

At The Spark, we offer a range of professional SQA and COSCA accredited training courses including the Diploma in Relational Counselling, Supervisor training and Train the Trainer, subject to individual acceptance on each course. CPD is also available in clinical approaches including Scottish Mental Health First Aid. Clinical supervision is provided in house, free of charge, on a monthly basis.

Our counselling service utilises an integrative approach incorporating talking therapy, art therapy and therapeutic play and we have opportunities for CYP counsellors to join our team. Vacancies are available in school settings across Central Scotland.

CYP Counsellors will be required for a minimum of 2 days per week up to 4 days per week.

To be considered you will need to be:

  • Fully qualified to provide counselling to children and young people
  • A registered member of your governing body
  • Able to travel to locations across all of Central Scotland (travel expenses available)

If you are a Group Worker looking to develop your practice and skill level then this might be the role for you!

As one of the largest providers of school-based counselling services in Scotland, The Spark is committed to ensuring all children and young people (CYP) have access to appropriate, professional support to cope with challenging life experiences.

Due to the development and expansion of our Children and Young People services, we currently have multiple opportunities, with immediate start dates available, and are seeking engaging, effective communicators with great organisational skills who want to deliver exciting programmes that support social, emotional and mental wellbeing in children and young people.

As a member of The Spark’s team, you may have the opportunity to develop your practice by coupling your previous experience with our range of professional SQA and COSCA accredited training courses. These include COSCA Skills and a Diploma in Relational Counselling, subject to individual acceptance on each course. CPD is also available in clinical approaches coupled with clinical supervision which is provided in house, free of charge, on a monthly basis.

Working on a sessional basis, CYP Group Workers are required for between three and five days per week up to the end of June 2020 with the possibility of extension into the 20/21 academic session.

To be considered you will need to hold:

• Qualification in youth work, community education, community development, social work or related discipline

• Driving licence and have access to own vehicle

These difficult and upsetting experiences can negatively impact upon the ability of children and young people to achieve their full potential through education. Our counselling service utilises an integrative approach incorporating talking therapy, art therapy and therapeutic play.

We are looking for sessional CYP counsellors who are interested in joining our team with the central belt opportunities having immediate availability.
