The fundraising officer informs and inspires people in the UK about the work of Mary’s Meals in order to secure increased support and funding for the organisation’s overseas school feeding programmes.
Though involved in a broad spectrum of activity, the fundraising officer has particular responsibility for building relationships with grassroots supporters within schools, universities, clubs, faith groups and churches – including coordination of our extremely dedicated volunteer speakers.
The fundraising officer will also work closely with the communications team to ensure that there is a consistently integrated approach across activities, upholding and promoting the values of the organisation.
To deliver an efficient and reliable reception service to Mary’s Meals staff and visitors. Maintains a positive and friendly image by acting as the first line of contact to Mary’s Meals staff, visitors, donors, and supporters in person and via telephone.
•Receive visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately
•Answering screening and forwarding incoming phone calls
•Respond to telephone or personal enquires, either general or relating to all departments
•Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
•Receiving and sorting daily mail
•Log and respond to correspondence or direct to appropriate person/team
•Maintain and updating filing and other information systems in line with policies and procedures, including data protection
•Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures)
•Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
•Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
•Order front office supplies and keep inventory of stock
•Update calendars and schedule meetings
•Arrange travel and accommodations
•Keep updated records of office expenses and costs
•Perform other duties such as filing and photocopying
Responsibility for supporting the development and implementation of the strategic management of retail and material aid for Mary’s Meals and to review our shops and material aid, building on the success of our seven charity shops. You will lead and motivate a team of shop managers, warehouse staff and volunteers to support a strategy for growth and produce a regular and significant income stream to support the charity. To review and make recommendations for sourcing potentially suitable locations and building our retail presence that supports increased sales potentials and improve awareness of our brand and of our vision and mission as well as adding a social value to the local community.
The review will include developing a holistic approach to our material aid campaigns that includes the seamless integration with shops and to the benefit of our supporters, donors and beneficiaries of our backpacks.
•Support and implement a retail strategy setting shop objectives and maximising on sales and profitability
•Provide your teams with a stimulating and supportive environment, which maintains and increases our standards of customer service and increases awareness of our brand.
•Sourcing potentially suitable sites and building business cases to grow the number of shops that will support increased awareness and add a social value to the communities we serve
•Review sales and profitability throughout shops and consider ways to increase sales and footfall in our shops
Responsible for the day to day operations and supporting the strategic management of an operations service to Mary’s Meals. Lead the fundraising operations, property and facilities management, logistics and administration services.
To provide a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of internal and external stakeholders.

The Communications Manager will play a key role in building support for Mary’s Meals, with a specific focus on generating media opportunities in London and the south of England, while creating engaging media content for national media, as part of the wider communications team based in Glasgow.
This role is based in London but reports to the Scotland-based Head of Communications, alongside the wider communications team. Therefore, strong collaboration with colleagues in different locations is key. The Communications Manager will work in the London Mary’s Meals office led by the Director of Development for London.
