Disability Equality Scotland are looking for an Easy Read Trainer to create an Easy Read training course and to deliver this as part of our Easy Read Service. This post will develop an Easy Read training package. The role will contribute to the promotion and marketing of our Easy Read service and assist with developing the content of a new website aimed at promoting Easy Read.
This post should have a high level of responsibility for designing, delivering, evaluating and reporting.

Continuing to foster close relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the voices of disabled people are listened to and acted on.
In line with our strategic aim to provide and take part in opportunities to participate and engage in discussions to bring about change, increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of Equality, Access and Inclusion across Scotland, the organisation is committed to championing equality and inclusivity within its workforce and its membership and activities. Through the organisations funded work we are responsive to the needs of our membership and staff through raising awareness of equality and inclusivity issues, addressing challenges, and ensuring quality and parity of access, involvement and a voice for all.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Disability Equality Scotland. We are seeking an experienced Engagement Coordinator to join our team.

We are a membership organisation and as such listen to the views of disabled people and champion on their behalf. We work to influence the policies of the Scottish Government, which affect how disabled people live and we work to encourage others to be inclusive and informed in their attitudes towards disabled people. This role will be responsible for organising the organisations events (online / hybrid), therefore experience in setting up accessible Zoom meetings and webinars is essential to this role.
We are also the umbrella organisation for all disability Access Panels in Scotland, and we are the principal provider of support and guidance to the Access Panels presently representing disabled persons at a local level throughout Scotland. Access Panels are committed to improving access and equality in its widest form, which means access to the physical environment, Education, Housing, Health, Social Care, Transport, Leisure & Recreation and Social Justice amongst other areas. This role will be responsible and supported by the Equality and Access Manager to develop strong and meaningful relationships with Access Panels across Scotland. The role holder will use the principles of community development to understand the collective needs across the Access panel Network enable communities to improve their accessibility.

Disability Equality Scotland is a key delivery partner of Transport Scotland’s Accessible Travel Framework and has current responsibility for taking forward outcomes to improve accessibility for disabled people on Scotland’s public transport network. We are now seeking a Project Coordinator to lead on research and evaluation work relating to Transport Scotland’s Annual Delivery Plan priorities for 2022-23. This is likely to include the design and analysis of surveys, liaison with partners and stakeholders, facilitation of workshops and webinars and monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

Disability Equality Scotland is now looking for a new Deputy CEO to assist in the strategic leadership of the organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, the post holder will oversee the development and delivery of new and existing projects with key funders. The post holder will represent the organisation on key strategic boards and strengthen and develop our partnerships throughout the third sector.
Working alongside the CEO, the Deputy CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation from an operational perspective as well as managing a broad number of projects and initiatives within Disability Equality Scotland. In addition, you will manage a team of six people.
The ideal candidate will have been in a management position for a number of years, have a strong understanding of the third sector, experience of networking between organisations and sectors, and knowledge of the role of Access Panels. Disability Equality Scotland is a key delivery partner of both Inspiring Scotland and Transport Scotland. In 2020 we launched a pilot of Scotland’s first National Hate Crime Charter with key transport providers. The pilot included front-facing staff, managers and passengers and successfully reached over 1.2million passengers in an eight-week period.
The successful candidate will be responsible for (though not exclusively): the project management of the Hate Crime Charter activities; ongoing training and development, in association with transport providers across Scotland; and undertaking monitoring and evaluation of the project,
