Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the public face, leader, and ambassador of PKAVS.

You’ll be the driving force of the organisation, sharing our work and building meaningful relationships with our valued stakeholders including Third Sector Chief Executives, the CEO and Executive Team at Perth & Kinross Council, NHS, Funders who support our organisations in Perth and Kinross and other key partners.

You’ll be inspiring, and self-motivated with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences to provide vision, deliver results, and act as an ambassador for the values of both the organisation and the broader third sector.

PKAVS is a charitable organisation that serves the community of Perth & Kinross by offering five community-led services supported by a team of 70 colleagues and up to 100 volunteers.

Our vision: A Perth and Kinross where people flourish, and communities thrive.

We operate across five locations in Perth & Kinross under our service banners which include Carers PKAVS, the Gateway TSI, Walled Garden + Wise Craft PKAVS and Shopmobility PKAVS.

We offer these varied social care and welfare services as well as support and advocacy to the dynamic third sector in Perth and Kinross.

Carers PKAVS is our largest service. We provide support and respite care to unpaid carers aged 5+ across Perth & Kinross at our Carers Centre in Lewis Place Perth.

The Third Sector Interface is administered by PKAVS on behalf of the Scottish Government and provides four crucial support streams to the third sector in Perth & Kinross from the Gateway in Perth

Walled Garden + Wise Craft PKAVS - provides therapeutic support and engagement activities that serve to improve the mental health and well-being of the people of Perth & Kinross from their two locations at the Walled Garden & Cafe in Perth and at our Wise craft Workshop in Blairgowrie.

Shopmobility PKAVS promotes independence in the community by providing mobility support equipment from its purpose built Shopmobility hub in Perth's Canal St car park.

Role

As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator your ability to spread the word about our mission; your knowledge and experience about social media channels and your innovation in maximising our social engagement is critical to the success of our work. You’ll thrive on working closely with the TSI team coordinating and implementing all social media activities and administrating our marketing and communications projects and campaigns across all channels.

Key Objectives – the key objectives of this position are to:

• Spread the word about our TSI mission. Create demand for our services, increasing conversion and third sector engagement by utilising, identifying, and connecting our third sector organisations through our social media networks.

• Ensure all communication is relevant, compliant and compelling to our stakeholders. Take ownership for the end-to-end coordination and delivery of campaigns.

• Review analytics regularly and use the information to predict where success lies in continuously improving our engagement with the third sector in Perth & Kinross.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the HR Manager at PKAVS is responsible for establishing HR operational excellence and for working in partnership, providing generalist operational HR support to the management team and service coordinators.

Key operational duties and responsibilities

1. People Plan

You’ll help to shape and set the direction for all critical HR processes and capabilities including recruitment, induction, learning and development, progress and talent development, employee engagement, change management, compensation and benefits and succession planning.

2. Recruitment and Career Development

Work in partnership with the management team to ensure that we have the right people in the right place at the right time within our staffing budgets.

3. Volunteer recruitment and coordination

Establish a volunteer recruitment and development programme and processes that ensure each of the PKAVS services have a bank of people they can rely on to support the delivery of their services and events.

4. Learning and Development

Help to improve the capability of the team at all levels by facilitating the progress review process and learning activities for employees and managers who are new to role, in-role and preparing for their next role in the organisation.

5. Employee engagement

Continue to put everything in place that creates a great place to work. Optimise the employee experience from the first to the last day of employment to drive continuous improvement in motivation and performance.

6. Employment relations

Act as the point of advice and contact for all HR and employment related queries, helping to prevent and resolve problems and disputes, providing advice and guidance to managers and coordinators to enable them to establish trust-based relationships with their teams and escalating issues to the appropriate person where required.

7. Payroll

Support all aspects of the payroll function, ensuring compliance with the latest relevant legislation, statutory filing deadlines and internal management reporting requirements.

8. HR Administration and reporting

Ensure that all administrative aspects of HR are always kept fully up to date and compliant.

9. Change implementation.

Manage, enable, and support the implementation of all change projects by facilitating and coaching managers to deliver the change process effectively and provide communication and consultation tools that will inform and engage people in the change.

Activities include gardening, creative arts, café/catering experience, woodwork and physical/nutritional activity.

Role

We are looking for a highly motivated person to develop and run the café within the Walled Garden. You will be working as part of a small, supportive and dynamic staff team. This role has a strong focus on income generation through building our social enterprise, however, you will be required to provide support and engagement opportunities to those clients participating in the café activity area (Wednesday – Friday). During client activity engagement days, the role of the Wellbeing Cook is to empower clients working in the café to build and improve confidence, skills and knowledge within the area of catering and gastronomy. On a Saturday, the Café activity will not be available for clients to access for supported recovery purposes and the Wellbeing Cook will work with a team of independent volunteers on this day.

Experience of working within a café/field of catering is essential and you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, varied menu of light lunches, drinks and home baking. The café will be open to the public from Wednesday – Saturday and your role is to ensure your team of clients and volunteers provide a high-quality service to customers. Development of outside catering and take-away options are also part of your job role.

Your role will also involve occasionally facilitating cooking workshops to small groups of clients interested in learning practical cookery skills either face to face or via Zoom.

The Partnership and Engagement team provides the Third Sector Interface (TSI) function for Perth and Kinross. The role

The Development Officer (Capacity Building) supports the development and sustainability of the Third Sector in Perth and Kinross by providing tailored one-to-one organisational development support and group information/training sessions to Third Sector Organisations on topics such as (but not limited to): setting up third sector groups/organisations, accessing funding, governance, sustainability, partnerships, compliance, and dissolution.

Beyond support for groups and organisations, the Development Officer (Capacity Building) also proactively works across the third sector and with Community Planning Partners to facilitate a third sector contribution to local decision making.

The key objectives of this role are to:

• To contribute to the development of a flourishing, empowered, and resilient third sector that enables communities to act on their own priorities in order to create a fairer Perth and Kinross for all who live and work here.

• To provide high quality and tailored capacity building support for community groups, voluntary organisations, charities, and social enterprises across Perth and Kinross.

• To support the facilitation and delivery of information/training sessions for the Third Sector in Perth and Kinross in response to need and national policy developments.

• To work across the Third Sector and with Community Planning Partners to increase the contribution of and influence of the Third Sector across Community Planning structures, partnerships, and local decision-making bodies.

• To maintain up to date knowledge of third sector regulatory, legal, governance and funding best practice.

Key skills and knowledge:

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including the use of databases to maintain timely records.

• Proficient in the use of social media platforms as a means of communicating mass messages to diverse audiences.

PKAVS Carers Hub supports unpaid carers of all ages who are living in Perth & Kinross and caring for family, partners, friends, or neighbours. Our trained support workers and volunteers help over 1500 adult carers retain a life outside of caring and develop skills or interests to enhance their own lives. PKAVS Carers Hub uses a holistic approach in working with people who have caring responsibilities and their families to assess and plan support. Support can include access to training, respite services, information & advice, and support groups.

The Hub is available virtually through a multi-agency website and locally, through carers support staff working in localities in Perth & Kinross. PKAVS carers support staff will work as part of a health & social care partnership approach with health and social care colleagues who support complex care in a community setting.

The Young Carers Service offers information, advice and support to young people and works in partnership with other agencies to deliver a range of activities that enable children with caring responsibilities to be supported.

Role

We are looking for a highly motivated person to work within a small, supportive, and dynamic team striving to recognise and enhance the potential of young people. Whilst a relevant qualification is desirable, experience of working with and being able to engage directly with young people and their families is an essential element of this role.

You will be involved in developing and delivering a range of group activities and programmes for Young Carers between the ages of 5-18 years. You will be responsible for the planning, preparation, and evaluation of all activities.

You must have a flexible approach, working in collaboration with team members, volunteers, and external agencies in developing and participating in a range of activities and services delivered during school holidays, in the evenings and on weekends for Young Carers.

Key Objectives

  • To identify the respite needs of Young Carers of all ages and across all localities.
  • To improve accessibility to respite and personal development opportunities for Young Carers across all localities of Perth and Kinross.
  • To develop and deliver an annual programme of respite and development activities to alleviate the impact of caring and improve outcomes for Young Carers.
  • To improve the coordination and promotion of information about respite for Young Carers.
  • To secure funding in support of the annual respite programme.
  • To support the recruitment and supervision of sessional staff and volunteers.
  • To manage budgets in relation to respite programmes.

Background

Perth & Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) is a local charity who work to provide a diverse range of services that enable the organisation’s vision of a Perth & Kinross where people and their communities thrive. Every year PKAVS supports over 5,000 local people across all communities, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. PKAVS also administers the Third Sector Interface (TSI) on behalf of the Scottish Government. The TSI supports, represents, and helps to sustain the dynamic third sector that exists in Perth & Kinross, including all charities, community groups, volunteers, and social enterprises.

PKAVS is a founding member of the recently formed Anti-Poverty Taskforce with membership drawn from elected members, the business community, the third sector and other key stakeholders. The Taskforce was established in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on our communities, closely followed by the current Cost of Living Crisis that is affecting communities nationwide. The Taskforce will draw upon expertise from across the area and seek out and adopt best practices from elsewhere to effect real change and offer meaningful support to those experiencing poverty and most at risk from rising costs. It will also provide a coordinating focal point for all current activities aimed at reducing inequalities – child poverty, fuel poverty, food supply, rural poverty premium.

The job

Outcome: The Anti-Poverty Taskforce works effectively across Perth & Kinross to mitigate the effects of poverty on its citizens.

Purpose

Reporting to the PKAVS Chief Executive Officer (supported by the Chairperson of the Anti-Poverty Taskforce), the purpose of the Anti-Poverty Project Manager role is to coordinate, and programme manage all anti-poverty activities and projects across the partners in the Taskforce. This position will enable the task force to function efficiently as an oversight and scrutiny group for all poverty related activity, spanning the local authority, business and the third sectors to deliver a joined-up approach.

The job

Your role as Funding, Communications and Impact Coordinator will be to implement and drive a variety of income generation, profile-raising campaigns, and engagement activities. This role will focus on delivering fundraising initiatives, communication strategies and donor engagement to further organisation’s vision.

Duties and responsibilities

Fundraising Programme

Assist the Funding, Communications, and Impact Manager in building a programme of long-term sustainable income.

· Research and identify potential funding opportunities from various sources such as trusts, foundations, businesses, and individual donors.

· Help maintain and build relationships with existing and potential donors, funders, and partners.

· Support the Funding, Communications, and Impact Manager in developing and providing the necessary reporting information for grant and funding applications ensuring they are well written and persuasive.

Communications

· Support and assist with the development and implementation of our communications and marketing strategy.

· Spot fundraising opportunities and help to organise fundraising and awareness raising campaigns events and donations initiatives.

· Coordinate and create content for PKAV’s digital communication channels, including our website, social media, and email newsletters.

· Use our impact and engagement insights to create and share meaningful stories with all stakeholders that enable us to engage more people who can benefit from our services and at the same time develop the confidence and financial support of donors, trusts, and funders.

· Establish and maintain funding and fundraising records through our CRM database.

· Communicate and collaborate with PKAVS volunteer coordinator to source volunteer support for our fundraising strategy and processes.

Impact

· Identify and liaise with appropriate support services, community resources and activities that meet individual outcomes.

· Help to develop and maintain quantitative and qualitative measurement and reporting processes that provide insight into our fundraising progress, our beneficiaries, funder and partner engagement and our services’ impact across local communities in Perth & Kinross.

· Assist with the development, preparation, and distribution of PKAV’s Annual Trustee’s Report and Annual Impact Report.

· Use the insights from our reporting to update the SMT and broader team, putting forward recommendations that will influence continuous improvement in the areas of funding and fundraising.
