Personal Assistant to Disabled Person

As a Personal Assistant, your role is to enable the employer, a sociable and intelligent young man who has a physical disability and uses a powered wheelchair to pursue his interests and live independently. This opportunity is open to male and female applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with leisure activities like going for a walk, to see a film, attend an evening class, meet social groups, and for a drink in the evening.
  • Provide assistance getting out and about, including driving wheelchair accessible car.
  • Provide assistance with domestic tasks like cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
  • Provide assistance with eating, drinking, and preparing food.
  • Provide assistance with brushing teeth, brushing hair, and basic hygiene.
  • Provide assistance getting in and out of bed, using a hoist.
  • Provide assistance with personal care, showering, and toileting.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent communication and conversational skills.
  • Understanding, patient, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Previous experience supporting someone with a disability.
  • Clean driving licence, valid in the UK, is essential.
  • Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership is essential.

We are currently looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager who has advanced sage payroll knowledge & experience of managing and delivering payroll & finance related projects.

This is an exciting role, where you can utilise your sage payroll & management experience coupled with project management skills to add value to this established payroll function, which provides full and enhanced payroll services for over 600 companies with 1500 employees in total.

Many areas of improvement have already been identified, and we need your payroll & project experience to research and implement these improvements as well as the ability to identify other areas of improvement, to allow us to ensure that our payroll service is as efficient, and cost effective as possible, without losing the spirit of our organisation. You must be able to identify issues, as well as the associated reasons and the implementation of control measures.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working within a similar environment. You should be a quick learner with excellent communication skills, in often-difficult situations.

You should have experience of delivering payroll and finance related projects on time and within agreed budget, ensuring that all stakeholders know planned outcomes.

You will also provide day-to-day leadership & guidance to our payroll team of 6 to ensure accurate, seamless, efficient and timely execution of our payrolls in accordance with UK laws, regulations and company policies, and drive process improvement/standardisation across payroll activity.

You should also have experience of auto-enrolment, NEST pensions as well as Declarations of Compliance & cessations.

Enjoying working as part of a small team of 6 you may work under pressure at times.

You may use your communication skills to help our service users understand any issues they have with their payroll.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working within a similar environment. You should be a quick learner.

• Drive his adapted, wheelchair-accessible van.

• Assist him to attend various social and leisure activities.

• Assist him with domestic tasks, errands, and administrative matters.

• Assist him in and out of bed by use of a ceiling hoist when he feels tired.

• Assist him to use his ventilator when he feels breathless.

Self Directed Support Development Worker

The aim of the SDS Programme is to offer information and capacity building and peer support opportunities to help people self empower and live more independent lives.

LCIL is looking for someone with:

  • Experience of the creation, design and delivery of workshops and peer support groups
  • Understanding of Independent Living philosophy and Social Model of Disability
  • Experience of project development and creation of strategic partnerships
  • Experience of working within or alongside a voluntary organisation

LCiL are recruiting for a part time Self-Management Support Worker to support the effective development and delivery of the Supported Self-Management Programme, led by Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership’s Long Term Conditions Programme across the four localities in Edinburgh.

The aim of this programme is to ensure that people living with long term conditions in Edinburgh receive the right help at the right time and are empowered to be regularly involved in, and responsible for, their own health and wellbeing.
