In this role, you will provide personal assistance to the employer, a young man with a physical disability, who is a wheelchair-user. This is to enable the employer to pursue their interests and live as independently as possible. Hours of work include 1pm to 6pm on Sundays with additional shifts available if desired.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the employer to eat, drink and prepare food.

• Assist the employer with brushing hair, teeth and basic hygiene.

• Drive the employer’s wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

• Assist the employer to attend various social and leisure activities.

• Assist the employer with domestic tasks, errands and administrative matters.

Skills and Experience

• Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm is essential.

• Understanding and patient attitude is essential.

• Previous experience supporting someone with a disability is essential.

• Full driving license, valid in the UK, is essential.

• Candidate will undergo a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.

Self-Directed Support Programme Co-ordinator

We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude to take responsibility for the effective development and overall management of the SDS development programme, including:

  • Ongoing design and development of the programme and all of the activities within it to respond to the aspirations and needs of its participants
  • Management, support and supervision, and development of staff and volunteers to achieve the above
  • Ensuring that the programme is fully integrated within LCiL and LCiL’s core services
  • Overseeing the use of action research and action learning to monitor progress and further develop the programme;
  • Ensuring that knowledge and experience gained are disseminated within LCiL and to other organisations working in the field, especially other Disabled People’s Organisations

LCIL is looking for someone with:

  • Understanding of person centred working
  • Understanding of Independent Living philosophy and Social Model of Disability
  • Experience of facilitating groups to make their own decisions and direct their own learning
  • Experience of designing and delivering workshops and events
  • Knowledge of SDS strategy, legislation and health and social care processes

Fundraising Co-ordinator

• Working with the CEO to develop the fundraising strategy for LCiL

We require a dynamic person to identify and help raise funds towards organisational long term sustainability and development, maintaining and developing contacts with statutory, voluntary and business funders and being active in developing the services of LCiL.

LCIL is looking for someone with:

  • Experience of project development, fundraising strategies and funding issues essential
  • Understanding of Independent Living philosophy and Social Model of Disability
  • Experience of strategic and project planning
  • Experience of working within or alongside a voluntary organisation
