Women’s Aid East and Midlothian (WAEML) aims to empower women until all women, children and young people are free and safe from domestic abuse. We are currently seeking new members to join its Board of Directors.

We are entering an exciting new phase of growth and development and are now seeking Board Members to support our activities. We are looking for creative and innovative feminists who can add to the skills mix of our current Trustees and who share our core values, have a passion for women’s and children’s rights and will uphold our commitment to equality, inclusion and opportunity for all.

We particularly welcome applicants who can demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Business Development

• Income Generation

• Law

• Lived experience of using Women’s Aid services

We are keen to improve the diversity of our Board and particularly welcome applications from women in black and ethnic minority, LGBT and /or disability community.

Family Support Worker

We are looking for a Family Support Worker to join our dynamic team.

WAEML provides information, support and accommodation to women (including trans-women), children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. If you can commit to upholding the rights of women, children and young people, this may be the job for you.

We have a full time post (35 hours per week) vacancy for an experienced support worker within our team to deliver individual and group work support to children and young people. We are looking for enthusiastic feminists who share our core values. You will be expected to demonstrate a gender-based and trauma-informed approach to service delivery and will be expected to take a multi-agency approach to your work.

Candidates ideally have a minimum of 2 years work experience within the violence against women or similar field. Membership of the PVG scheme is an essential requirement and you should be qualified to a minimum of SVQ 3 in children’s care, learning and development.

This post is available on a fixed term until June 2020. Travel across East Lothian and Midlothian is required therefore a full current driving licence and constant access to a car is essential.
