MELD is recruiting a Senior Support Worker in East Lothian. The successful candidate will have a lived experience of substance issues (drugs or alcohol) and be at least 1 year free from problematic substance misuse. The successful candidate will join a team offering both one to one, groupwork and motivational support to those affected by substance misuse issues at various locations across East Lothian. The MELD Peer Support Workers will also have an understanding of substance misuse and related services, the ability to work in a flexible manner and adhere to a recovery and harm reduction approach.

This position will require certain qualification and experiences.

MELD is looking for a highly motivated individual who is committed to providing services for substance misusers and who can work effectively as part of a small team and in partnership with statutory services. You will be expected to provide advice, information and support to individuals who are experiencing difficulties with substance misuse and related issues.

A qualification in Health, Education, Social Work or Counselling with demonstrable experience of working with clients who have difficulties with substance misuse, an ability to work in a flexible manner and adhere to a recovery focussed approach and a full driving licence and own transport are essential criteria.

Midlothian Justice Services Worker

MELD is looking for a highly motivated individual who is committed to providing services for substance misusers and who can work effectively as part of a small team and in partnership with statutory services. You will be expected to provide support and advice to support the recovery of offenders with substance misuse issues, referred to the service from Midlothian Justice Social Work.

The purpose of the support will be to reduce the harm associated with substance misuse and promote recovery and positive lifestyle changes and reduce the level of related offending

A qualification in Health, Education, Social Work or Counselling with demonstrable experience of working with clients who have difficulties with substance misuse, an ability to work in a flexible manner and adhere to a recovery focussed approach and a full driving licence and own transport are essential criteria.
