People-Led Policy Officer

Following the departure of the current post holder, Inclusion Scotland is now looking to appoint an individual who will be able to take responsibility for the successful delivery of the People-led Social Care Support project. The successful candidate will support and run the People-led Policy Panel with a current focus on reform of adult social care support following the COVID-19 pandemic. This critically important role would suit someone with a background in Policy development and/ or analysis with Community development or capacity-building experience.

About Highland Children and Young People’s Forum (HCYPF)

The aim of Highland Children and Young People’s Forum is ‘to contribute to the highest possible standards of services in the Highlands for the benefit of children and young people with additional support needs’.

Our focus has moved from consultation work to participation work; not representing the views of children and young people but empowering children and young people to speak out for themselves.

We work within a policy and participation context and cover the Highlands.

This post will be mainly working within the Inspire Highland young people’s project.

Internship Overview

This internship provides an exciting opportunity for a motivated, passionate individual to increase the digital/remote participation of children and young people with additional support needs (ASNs) and disabilities living in the Highlands.

This is a unique, developmental role whereby the Digital Participation Worker (Children and Young People) will enable creative, inclusive and fun engagement and participation opportunities for children and young people to empower them to speak up and have their voices heard.

Main duties and tasks of the role

Through the mediums of digital participation and digital/remote youth work the main tasks of the role of Digital Participation Worker are to:

  • Provide HCYPF with evidence of need for digital participation work to promote the voices of children and young people in Highland with ASNs or disabilities.
  • Increase the digital engagement of children and young people with additional support needs/disabilities in the work of HCYPF, particulary with children of primary school age.
  • Provide increased opportunities for children and young people with additional support needs/disabilities living in remote and rural areas of Highland to have an opportunity to have their voices heard.
  • Provide increased opportunities children and young people at greatest risk of exclusion (e.g. those within the criminal justice system or with communication challenges) to have an opportunity to have their voices heard.
  • Identify the issues around digital exclusion for children and young people in Highland.

IT Business Support Internship with the Digital Workplace Team at Edrington

This is an excellent opportunity for a disabled person (including D/deaf) to gain valuable, real-world experience of developing apps and creating workflow automations for streamlining business processes.

Internship overview

The successful candidate will work with the existing Digital Workplace Team, consisting of 3 members, to deliver cutting-edge business applications using the Microsoft Power Platform. During the internship, the candidate will gain valuable, real-world experience of developing apps and creating workflow automations for streamlining business processes. Apps developed range from straightforward, such as Catering Requests and Driving Services, to the complex, such as our New Product Development System and Exceptions (used for production)

Main duties and tasks

  • Supporting the Digital Workplace team to develop solutions, such as a Global Vendor Approval and Customer Onboarding PowerApps.
  • Researching user needs to inform app development.
  • Designing and developing apps that will support our business using PowerApps, Microsoft new low-code development platform.
  • Testing and bug resolution.
  • Using PowerAutomate, Microsoft Workflow Engine, to develop automation for regular tasks to develop our business efficiency
  • Updating our shared filing system using SharePoint.
  • Work with the Digital Workplace Team to help define the roadmap for App development using Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Work with the Digital Workplace Team to introduce new technology and services to wider teams demonstrating how they deliver value to the business.

Person Specification:

Essential skills and experience:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage multi-tasks in high volume workload situations
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to different audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A Degree / HND / HNC in IT related field is desirable.

Internship overview

To help support the Insight team, providing marketing and commercial teams with actionable findings on a range of insight challenges. These will cover market and category understanding, Brand health, Brand positioning, and marketing effectiveness as well as deepening the understanding of our consumers and the trends that impact them.

As well as specifically supporting the Brand team with growth planning preparation, target audience understanding and competitive learnings. This will be done via a range of our tools and techniques including communications, social listening, digital, market data and insight projects.

Main duties and tasks

  • Work with the Power BI team to develop an Ambassador Action Plan, that covers data collection, dashboard development and data usage. Ensuring that The Brand Ambassador Community become “super users” of Power BI.
  • Provide project management support to the Insight team throughout major strategic market, category and consumer understanding projects.
  • Support the Insight team on delivering the key evaluation and marketing effectiveness learnings for the brand, working with our communications, digital and new product teams to co-ordinate data and information to ensure that we understand the impact of our key initiatives against their objectives.
  • Sharing findings from research with marketing teams and working with them to generate actionable insights in an engaging, and inspiring way.
  • Supporting the Brand team with growth planning preparation, target audience understanding and competitive learnings across communications, digital and industry data.
