Community Development Worker (SDS)

The Advisory Group is an independent charity, promoting the rights of people with disabilities.

Thanks to a Scottish Government grant we are looking to appoint a Development Worker to promote and support people to access Self-Directed Support across Stirling and Clackmannanshire.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), funded until March 2021.

This exciting initiative will work closely with people who use support services, their families, support providers and the local HSCP to:

· Explore the options of SDS

· Explore what’s available in the wider community

· Develop sustainable initiatives that are accessible to all

· Forge partnership working across the area

Have access to a suitable vehicle during working hours and either hold a valid current driving licence or be able to make alternative arrangements.

Support and Development Manager

We currently support a small number of individuals with a range of disabilities who live in Portree and are looking to recruit a manager who will continue to develop and manage services for people with disabilities who already live on, or are returning to live on, Skye.

This post involves providing line management and leadership to a small team of Support Workers and Enhanced Support Workers and includes some elements of support to workers out with normal working hours. The post also involves providing some direct support to individuals.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic manager with experience in social care who is:

  • Passionate about developing and delivering personalised services.
  • Motivated to lead and support others to make a difference and has excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including family carers and other professionals.
  • Flexible in their day to day work and able to prioritise and delegate effectively
  • Able to harness the resources of the local community to contribute to socially inclusive outcomes for the people we support.

If you are looking for an opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of people with disabilities, some of whom may have complex needs, then this could be the job for you! Key is currently recruiting people to work for a number of individuals who live in Portree, Skye.

We provide person centred support to individuals to live in their own homes and be active citizens; enabling each person to use their talents, fulfil their dreams and be in control of their lives.

We are looking for flexible, motivated people with a mature outlook who:-

  • Enjoy and have experience of working with people
  • Have a positive attitude to life
  • Have excellent life skills and the ability to share these with others
  • Can understand and adhere to the SSSC Codes of Practice and are committed to their own learning and personal development

Support to individuals is varied and can include supporting people with personal care; managing their home and finances as well as to develop and maintain full and active lives in their community.

Experience of working with adults with disabilities although desirable is not essential as full local training and ‘on the job’ support will be provided. Key offer excellent support and training alongside a range of benefits and opportunities for personal development and career progression and are always willing to talk to people with the right skill set who are looking for a change of career.

We provide support to some people twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Sleepover responsibilities may also be required for which we offer an hourly rate of £7.50 per hour. We are able to offer a range of flexible contracts or sessional work and are also keen to hear from applicants who may only have availability to support people at certain times of the day or week.
