We are currently looking for Residential Child Care Workers to join our Care Team to contribute to a culture and ethos in which we make the needs of the children paramount and provide them with security, safety, care and social development to enable them to reach their potential. Opportunities exist for various roles including full-time, part-time, and fixed-term (initially for approximately six months, with the possibility of extension).

The successful candidates should be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), or they will need to register within the first six months of employment. A driving licence allowing the use of our vehicles is essential.

Full-time hours are 39 per week, working five days from seven, according to a rota system. Part-time hours are likely to be 19.5 per week, but we may consider other options. Evening and weekend work is required in either case.

The post-holder will provide assistance to the Service Manager (Residential/Referrals) and Residential Team Manager and be an additional source of support and direction for the Care team. We wish to engage a Consultant Psychotherapist to to provide staff across the organisation with a reflective space to support them with with their highly skilled and complex work with children.

Using psychoanalytic observation and consultation, the Consultant Psychotherapist will facilitate individual and group reflective space sessions, providing a thoughtful and non judgemental approach to enabling healthy relationships where children and adults can feel supported and understood, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

The Consultant Psychotherapist will initially be engaged for a 12-month period, commencing August 2022, with the possibility of this arrangement being extended by mutual agreement.

We wish to recruit a Project Worker on a three year, fixed term basis to set up and deliver the aims of Here4U. The postholder will be part of the Acorn continuing care team and will work closely with Harmeny’s Assessment and Planning workers to develop a model of supporting children and young people, post placement. The role will also involve establishing a network of former pupils up to the age of 25, developing a closed social media site, and organising regular events for former pupils, families and staff.

Here4U is a key strategic development for Harmeny, providing the opportunity for research, through engaging with former pupils, into the impact of Harmeny’s approaches, practices and interventions, and thus enabling us to continuously improve.

The successful candidate will work 39 hours per week. A flexible approach, including working patterns is required, which at times may include some evening and weekend work.

We are currently looking for Residential Child Care Workers to join our Care Team on a full-time employed basis. The post-holders will contribute to a culture and ethos in which we make the needs of the children paramount and provide them with security, safety, care and social development to enable them to reach their potential.

The successful candidates will work 39 hours per week, working five days from seven, according to a rota system. Evening and weekend work is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive ethos in the school consistent with Harmeny’s vision, purpose and core values.

  • Be an integral part of the Care staff team.
  • Care for the children’s everyday requirements and to help create a homely, caring and safe environment for all the children at Harmeny.

  • Develop and implement care plans which address the needs of the child.

  • Attend supervision, Annual Performance Review, training and other meetings as required.
  • Undertake sleeping-in duties as required by the staffing rota.
  • Participate in residential trips and holidays when required.
  • Have a flexible approach to the timetable and working patterns at the discretion of the Residential Team Manager or Care Management Team.
  • Undertake domestic and food preparation duties as directed, and ensure that others in the team also do so.Undertake induction and other relevant training as required to fulfil the duties of the post and maintain SSSC registration.
  • Undertake any other duties as delegated by the management team that are consistent with the role of Residential Child Care Worker.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience
