Charity registered in Scotland SC024299
Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living (GCIL) is a disabled people’s user led organisation (DPULO) committed to promoting and supporting the inclusion of disabled people. GCIL’s Support, Payroll, Training, Housing, Employment and Consultancy Services enable disabled people to assert more control over their lives and participate within society as equal citizens.
The organisation, a registered charity run by disabled people, has been working for and with disabled people for over 25 years in a number of local authorities and with some Scotland wide programmes. Due to a retirement the Board is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead GCIL. The incumbent will continue to build the organisation as a resource to disabled people; developing and implementing its strategy; and providing the Board of Directors with key information and policy recommendations.
The new Chief Executive will build on the legacy of the past 25 years, changing many more lives. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that GCIL contributes to the strategic planning and policy-making processes of local and national government, and other public, private and Third Sector partners in relation to independent living issues.
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Board of Directors to design and implement their future strategy. They will have a key role in securing GCIL’s financial sustainability including increasing the organisation’s income generation capacity. Building relationships with key individuals or institutions and exploring how new services may increase sustainability will be vital. The role will appeal to a leader who can deliver change sensitively and effectively and will be able to develop new ideas and thinking to support the organisation’s community. The new Chief Executive will bring inspirational leadership to increase awareness, reach and measurable impact of GCIL.
