Cyrenians’ vision is of an inclusive society in which we all have the opportunities to live valued and fulfilling lives. We work to make that vision a reality through a wide range of services aimed at tackling the causes and consequences of home-lessness and through working with stakeholders across Scotland who can help us achieve this vision. Last year we supported over 11,600 people in their time of need, welcoming a further 13,000 people to Cyrenians services, events and train-ing courses. Over 900 volunteers generously gifted a total of 76, 673 hours of their time, knowledge, support and experience to us across our organisation.

We have recently secured funding from the Morrisons Foundation, initially for a period of 1 year, to develop and implement an employability programme based in Cyrenians FareShare Depot incorporating vocational training within the live working environment of a food distribution warehouse.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual with the right combination of skills to take the lead on developing and establishing a bespoke employability programme that will ensure opportunities for the most disadvantaged. Community Gardener – Walled Garden, Falkirk

The Walled Garden is around a half acre of ground within Dollar Park, Falkirk.

Falkirk Justice Services renovated the walled garden after it fell into disrepair and Cyrenians assumed responsibility for the day to day management of the garden in August 2015.

The aim of the garden is to manage a programme of maintenance and development for those on community payback orders to participate in, and to bring back into use a beautiful space that is open to public.

The post holder will be responsible for the support and management of people on community payback orders and the engagement of volunteers to ensure that we meet these aims.

We are looking for a skilled and dynamic individual with a “can do” attitude and a genuine interest in gardens and working outdoors. Knowledge of the Justice system is desirable and excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to motivate and inspire participants to get the most out of the opportunities that the garden presents. Working hours

FareShare Volunteering Development Worker

Cyrenians runs the Central and South East Scotland branch of FareShare.

Community Links Worker

Cyrenians annual income/spend is over £5million across 40 services, projects and enterprises with approximately 60 major funding streams. Of these, 35 services and projects provide support to over 11,000 people at their time of need, tackling the causes and consequence of homelessness. We also have 3 long-established social enterprises, with 2 further enterprises having been launched in the past 18 months.

To ensure sustainability and success of our enterprises, a new role has been identified to support the development and introduction of a product-cost system of management accounting for aspects of these enterprises which will be led by the Finance Manager and the Director of Finance & Corporate Services.

The Role

The Assistant Management Accountant will, with the direction and support of the Finance Manager, ensure that all cost and management accounting reporting and forecasting is carried out to professional standards, and in line with our Annual Plan and our values.

The role will report to the Finance Manager and will work alongside them, providing excellent training and development opportunities for the successful candidate.

With an operational responsibility for effective reporting on income & expenditure forecasting and cashflow management across our services and enterprises, the role will also maintain a product-cost system of management accounting for relevant aspects of these enterprises, and will be involved in the set-up of this system alongside the Director of Finance & Corporate Services and the Finance Manager

The post holder will line-manage the finance team, currently 2 people, who post all transactions to TAS, generate invoices, chase debtors, pay suppliers and support the Finance Manager in the preparation of management reports.

Key Responsibilities

Working within the Finance Department’s annual plan, the successful candidate will:

  • Maintain and update income analysis reports, reconciling to our project management accounts
  • Update cashflow, including input of actuals and reviewing/amending forecasts
  • Prepare and submit financial progress reports to our various funders, and to their specific requirements
  • Review income & expenditure forecasts with service managers, challenging variances and updating financial records accordingly
  • Prepare quarterly financial reporting schedules for trustee papers, reconciling to management accounts
  • Implement and maintain accurate product costing reporting including stock, sales and margin analysis across selected business units within our social enterprises
  • Provide financial guidance to enterprise managers on the principles behind, and preparation of, product costing methods of reporting and financial management
  • Prepare and submit annual gift aid claims
  • Prepare and submit other finance-related forms, claims and returns on an ad-hoc basis as required
  • Support the Finance Manager on ad-hoc projects
  • Manage and develop the finance team, currently a full time Finance Officer and part time Finance Assistant. Provide line management that adheres to relevant HR policies and procedures. Supported by the Finance Manager, ensure each staff member has an individual work-plan disseminated from the organisation’s annual plan, and receives regular 1:1 meetings
  • Deliver all core components of this role ensuring effective financial control and management with evidence of accuracy, reliability, attention to detail, ability to prioritise and in line with Cyrenians policies, procedures and values. Ensure efficiencies and improvements are sought as standard practice

Key Worker, UASC Community

Cyrenians Leith Walk Community provides accommodation for up to 14 unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) aged 16-18 who will have been trafficked from overseas. Most of the young people are accessing further education, at college or in full or part time employment. The purpose of the Community is to provide a safe and stable environment for them to live, learn and develop together. Two volunteers will live alongside the residents to provide peer support.

Our unique approach to supported accommodation helps young people to develop their skills through training and ongoing support. An important part of this role is to support the residents to access local housing options with the intention of moving on into their own tenancies and to begin living a more independent life using the skills they have developed whilst living within the community.

We are looking for two very supportive team members, well organised and positive who will have an awareness and understanding of some of the challenges faced by those who are trafficked. Outdoor Education Officer, Cyrenians Farm
