Youth Development Worker

CHAI is looking to recruit a Youth Development Worker to engage young people 16 – 26, facing multiple barriers to employment onto Activity Agreements. The worker will be based in South East Edinburgh as part of our No One Left Behind delivery service, working from Valley Park Community Centre.

The post holder should be passionate about helping young people and demonstrate an ability to develop trust, build confidence and be able to guide young people towards positive destinations suited to their needs and interests.

This post is currently funded until 31st of March 2023 with a possible extension until 31st March 2024.

Successful candidates will be required to have Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme membership or Enhanced Disclosure.

Money Advice Support Worker

The Money Advice Support Worker will work alongside advisors, assisting clients undertaking a variety of practical steps that are required to maximise their income, manage their finances, and access formal debt solutions. The Worker and Adviser will agree individually tailored support plans to ensure that support provided meets the needs and requirements of each service user. Support will be case-centred, and the Worker will be expected to recognise and assist with referrals to an appropriate service when a the client has additional support needs.

The model of provision will, typically, involve a half day of direct client contact, followed up with a further half-day casework. The direct client contact will usually take place in outreach locations in the community, with the casework undertaken at CHAI’s main office or appropriate venues. With social distancing measures in place, the Advisor will deliver advice on the phone until it is safe to resume face to face appointments. Casework will also be undertaken from home when possible.

Fundraising and Development Manager

Advice Worker (Maximise! Project)

This Post is based within our Advice Team in Edinburgh and will operate as part of our Maximise! project working in partnership with Children 1st.

The aim of the service is to address the financial and social pressures on families and individuals in order to promote a more stable and supportive family environment for the children attending school – and thereby supporting pupil attainment. The project works with families across all schools in Edinburgh but has a particular focus on Care Experienced children and families.

The model of provision will, typically, involve a half day of direct client contact, followed up with a further half-day casework. The direct client contact will ordinarily take place in schools and outreach locations in the community, with the casework undertaken at CHAI’s main office or appropriate venues. Purpose of the Job

  • The Advice Worker will provide advice, information and representation to families at schools in Edinburgh, with the aim of addressing income, debt and housing issues.
  • The Advice Worker will assist in the promotion and development of Maximise! Services within schools

These posts are based within our Advice and Employability Team in Edinburgh and are part of the wider income maximisation service funded by the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board. At present most of these services are provided via telephone appointments from home but some services may start to be operating face to face advice soon. This post provides additional benefit and debt advice provision across 3 GP surgeries in South West Edinburgh and will require the advice to be provided within the GP surgery but will be subject to all current Covid safety guidance. There will also be one additional day providing benefit and debt advice within a mental health team. This is a great opportunity for someone who can develop good working relations with other professions and enjoys problem solving for people.

Our aim is to alleviate poverty, prevent homelessness and encourage employability.

Over the past 25 years CHAI has become embedded in the communities we serve, establishing long-standing connections, collaborations, and partnerships with statutory bodies, and third sector organisations, community groups, housing associations and other advice and support agencies in Edinburgh. Advice Worker – Growing Families Project

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Growing Families project and help deliver a quality advice service to families with young children in Edinburgh.

CHAI is currently involved in the Scottish Government-led ‘Universal Pathway Quality Improvement Collaborative - Financial Inclusion’, which aims to add an effective pathway into financial advice for families supported by Health Visitors.

Working alongside the project’s Financial Capability Worker, and working in partnership with the Health Visitor teams in South East and North West Edinburgh, the Advice Worker will help provide income maximisation; welfare and debt advice; budgeting and financial capability support to expecting families and families with babies and young children who are supported by the Health Visitors.

This post is based within CHAI’s Advice Team. The model of provision will, typically, involve half a day of client appointments, followed up by a further half-day’s casework. Since the pandemic, we have operated a hybrid model of working with much of the advice being delivered over the phone/online. However, when required, direct client contact could take place at the Health Visitors’ bases, at the families’ homes or in community locations.
