Young Carers Development Worker

Edinburgh Young Carers is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified applicant to join the service in developing and providing high quality support to young carers in Edinburgh between the ages of 5 and 25 years. The post-holder will work alongside colleagues to raise awareness of young carers and their support needs, identify hidden young carers, and develop and provide support plans to ensure that young carers identified personal outcomes are being met, in accordance with the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.

The candidate will need to be suitably qualified and experienced in working with children and young people, with at least three years proven experience in a role including individual and group work.

Finance & Administration Assistant

Edinburgh Young Carers is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified applicant to deliver high-quality finance and administration assistance, to support the service in providing respite support young carers in Edinburgh, aged 5-25.

The post-holder will work alongside the Finance & HR Support Manager to maintain accurate financial and database records and provide administrative support to the senior management team.

The candidate will need to be suitably qualified and experienced in working with Sage (50) accountancy software, with at least 2 years’ experience of general accounting and reconciliation work as well as strong organisational skills and prior experience in managing admin databases.

Organisation Profile:

Edinburgh Young Carers, alongside Capital Carers (formerly North West Carers) and Broomhouse Centre (trading as Space) form the ‘Edinburgh Young Carer Partnership’. The partnership has been funded by the City of Edinburgh Council and Scottish Government to provide specialist support to young carers and young adult carers across Edinburgh.

The three partner organisations believe that working together as the Edinburgh Young Carer Partnership will provide a more comprehensive and holistic package of support, that works across the 4 city localities, providing a highly effective, community-based way of supporting these young people who are young carers.

Young Carers Information and Advice Officer

Edinburgh Young Carers is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified applicant to join the service in developing and providing high quality support to young and young adult carers in Edinburgh between the ages of 5 and 25 years.

Piloting our new ‘EYC Membership’ Information and Advice Service, designed for young and young adult carers who do not need our full service support but still require limited support, the post-holder will provide young and young adult carers with information, advice and materials to support them in their caring situation, using a person-centred approach. They will assess the individual needs of young people in our EYC Membership base, maintain community provision and support service maps, produce regular communications across a variety of media, maintain our website, facilitate support materials and plan and host events, whilst providing a direct line of communication to young carers and their families.

The post-holder will work alongside colleagues to raise awareness of young carers and their needs with other organisations and ensure young carers’ voices are heard, helping to shape the development of our service and promote Young Carers’ Rights.

The candidate will need to be suitably qualified and experienced in working with children and young people, with at least three years proven experience in a relevant role and strong administrative skills.
