Citizens Advice and Rights Fife (CARF) is an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people. Our service continues to grow and expand, and we are now excited to be able to announce new position attached to the stronger families’ agenda to help us achieve our vision of “A better life for the people of Fife”.

This role is to work alongside existing Barnardo’s services, already engaging with vulnerable families, to provide financial health checks, which aims to support families to maximise their income by ensuring they are not paying more for essential goods and service than needed and that they are getting all the benefits, grants and exemptions (council tax, energy etc.) they are entitled to.

The Financial Inclusion Caseworker will play a key role in improving access to financial health checks and process and deal with all incoming Financial Health Check referrals. This service will include assessing welfare benefit entitlement, budgeting assistance, and information on banking services and affordable credit. The service will also actively refer both internally and externally where further issues are identified e.g. debt issues.

The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate a commitment to CARF’s vision and values.

Money Advice Assistant

We are excited to announce we are recruiting for the position of a Money Advice Assistant to work as part of our Money Advice Team.

The successful applicant will work alongside an established team answering telephone enquiries relating to debt and financial issues. The candidate will support all aspects of money advice, including dealing with general money advice enquiries and handling referrals from external agencies. The candidate is expected to demonstrate and adhere to good practice in all aspects of their work.

Ideal candidates will have excellent written, oral and IT skills with experience in an administrative/customer service role. The successful candidate will be committed to the aims and principles of CARF and Citizens Advice Bureau. With the ability to identify personal development opportunities, the candidate will be able to work independently but also collectively as part of their team and the wider money advice team to deliver CARFs vision and values.

The successful applicant will deliver an income maximisation service to NHS employees in various health settings across Fife. This service will include assessing welfare benefit entitlement, budgeting assistance, and information on banking services and affordable credit. The service will also actively refer both internally and externally where further issues are identified e.g. debt issues.

You will have a good standard of education, high quality personal skills and the desire to improve lives. Ideally, you will have experience of working in an advice giving capacity and/or a knowledge or interest in the social security system, although this is not essential.

You will be able to communicate complex information in a manner easily understood, whilst always mindful of the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Bureau and CARF. Committed and results driven, the successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as supporting the Financial Inclusion Team to deliver CARF’s vision and values.

Money Adviser

We are excited to announce we are recruiting for the position of Money Adviser in our busy Money Advice Unit.

The successful applicant will work as part of an existing team to provide a comprehensive and quality money advice service to clients, including assessing a client’s financial situation and identifying appropriate debt relief mechanisms. In addition, the post holder will be expected to work alongside other existing services in CARF including frontline services, and other projects, to the benefit of clients.

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of existing money advice legislation and debt relief mechanisms available to clients in Scotland as well as a sound knowledge of income maximisation. Previous experience of dealing with bankruptcy and other debt relief applications would be advantageous. A clear understanding of the importance of excellence in service delivery is paramount to success in this role, including, but not limited to, adhering to CARF’s internal quality assurance procedures.

Ideal candidates will have excellent written, oral and IT skills with experience in a general or specialist advice giving customer facing role. The successful candidate will be committed to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Bureau and CARF.
