This facility provides a nationwide service offering information, advice and support to people affected by our conditions via a free phone telephone help line.

The Advice Line Clinical Lead will manage a team of health care professionals and be responsible for developing and expanding the Hospital to Home Service which provides a 1:1 telephone support service for up to 12 weeks to support people to adjust to living with a recently diagnosed chest, heart, stroke or long covid condition or who has spent some time in hospital with an exacerbation of their condition.

You will have a current 1st level nursing or Allied Health Professional registration, and ideally have experience working with people affected by chest, heart and / or stroke conditions. We are seeking strong leadership experience with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be confident in IT and able to work to a high professional standard using your own initiative.

By joining Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) as a Community Support Services Coordinator you can be the difference between people just surviving and really living.

You will be part of Scotland’s leading charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live life to the full again. Our Hospital to Home services form a nationwide network of local support groups, nurses, volunteers and one-to-one support teams helping families adjust to life with a heart or lung condition or after a stroke.

We are looking for a Community Support Coordinator to join our amazing team in the North area. This role is focused on making sure that people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions get the help they need and get back to doing the things that matter to them.

Through our Community Support Services, you will support people to have the confidence and tools to self-manage their health condition and live as independently as possible. You’ll also help people get back to doing the things that are important to them – from simple things like walking to their local shop following a stroke, to returning to a sky-high hobby of gliding!

You’ll be directly involved in supporting people with chest, heart and stroke conditions through both one-to-one and group services in both community and hospital settings. You’ll work with the rest of the Community Support Services team in Highland, and manage a team of incredible volunteers, to make a real difference to the lives of people with our conditions.

Candidates don’t need to have medical knowledge as training is provided on our health conditions. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities and long-term conditions; an understanding of the challenges faced by people with chest, heart and stroke conditions including Long Covid; an understanding of community service provision; the ability to recruit, manage and motivate a team of volunteers; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We are seeking maternity cover for the post of Health Defence Lead, who will be integral in delivering the CHSS Health Defence Programme and line management of the Health Defence team.

The CHSS Health Defence programme focusses on the secondary prevention and self-management of chest, heart, and stroke conditions. Funding granted by the Glasgow Communities Fund enables Health Defence 2.0 to build on the foundations of our pilot project in Drumchapel, with expansion into the Maryhill community.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of health improvement services that meet the needs of the communities that we serve. This includes the evaluation of the existing Health Defence programme; community engagement, co-design, and delivery of the new Health Defence 2.0 programme; and the evaluation of Health Defence 2.0.

We are seeking an individual who is organised, motivated, with good communication skills and who has experience in delivering health promotion services. Candidates must have an Allied Health Professional/First Level Nursing qualification and/or qualifications in Health Promotion/Public Health; and have evidence of continued professional development. The project, in collaboration with NHS Lothian, is for the “Digital and personalised health information/ advice with facilitation enabling people to create their pathway to self-manage recovery from COVID-19”.

Strategic aims of the project:

· To create a supportive accessible recovery pathway to eventual self-management for people living with the impact of a COVID 19 diagnosis.

· To engage with people living with impact of the virus to better understand the spectrum of diagnosis and clinical manifestations and the impact on daily living.

· To evaluate the efficacy of our service design, make appropriate improvements and prepare to scale up across the country.

The role will also include administrative support to the wider Services Directorate and Services Management Team.

We are seeking a Physical Activity Specialist with a REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) Level 4 instructor qualification to help deliver our Physical Activity strategy. You will be responsible for delivering and promoting physical activity to those people who are referred to the Health Defence project and the wider Physical Activity programme. You will use your expert knowledge to deliver according to physical activity guidelines to improve the health and wellbeing of our service users.

The CHSS Health Defence initiative focusses on the secondary prevention and self-management of chest, heart and stroke conditions. Physical activity is a key element of this initiative and funding granted by the Glasgow Communities Fund enables us to build on the existing physical activity offer in Drumchapel with expansion into the Maryhill community and virtually.

We are seeking an individual who is organised, motivated, with good communication skills and who has experience in delivering physical activity sessions. Candidates must have further/higher education in Health & Fitness beyond school certification (e.g., HND/Degree) as well as a Level 4 specialist qualification in one of our three conditions. Experience in mental health training and motivational interviewing is also desirable. Access to a car is essential.

We are looking to recruit a new member of our dynamic Community Fundraising and Events team. General knowledge of the North-East, specifically Aberdeenshire and Tayside

You will be assisting the Community & Events Manager - North of Scotland, to maximise income generation from a variety of audiences and will play a key role in the Community & Events Fundraising team across our events and activities working to agreed KPIs. You will have a can-do, solution focused attitude with experience of managing a varied workload independently.

You will be required:

  • To generate support and income from community, corporate and events income streams working to agreed KPIs and objectives.
  • To manage and achieve development targets, taking a lead and individual responsibility for specific projects.
  • To build relationships with volunteers and help recruit new volunteers to aid the growth in fundraising support required in the area.
  • To proactively approach schools, groups, organisations, and companies to deliver presentations and information about the charity.
  • To work with the Community and Events Fundraising Manager – North of Scotland to promote and develop event fundraising activities working to agreed KPIs.

Applicants must possess a current clean driving license and access to own transport. At least two year’s fundraising experience in community and corporate would be desired. It is also essential to have flexibility on working hours, which can on occasion be throughout Scotland. CHSS operates a managed time policy. Good IT skills including MS Office 365, Excel, Raisers Edge NXT or other CRM platform are vital and most importantly a commitment to make a difference to people’s quality of life through the role.

Our Kindness Call Service is designed to provide a listening ear and an opportunity for those using the service to talk about what matters to them, helping to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation and supporting them to live life to the full. Our trained kindness volunteers make regular calls, forming reassuring and encouraging relationships and are supported by the Kindness Call Coordinator.

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities and long term conditions; an understanding of the challenges faced by people with cardiac, respiratory and stroke conditions as well as Long Covid; an understanding of community service provision; the ability to recruit, manage and motivate a team of volunteers; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We provide volunteer and staff led, one to one and group services in the community and hospital settings.

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities and long term conditions; an understanding of the challenges faced by people with cardiac, respiratory and stroke conditions as well as Long Covid; an understanding of community service provision; the ability to recruit, manage and motivate a team of volunteers; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Retail and Trading department in Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland increases income for the Charity through a chain of 40 retail shops across Scotland, operating across 2 distinct different formats – Boutique and Discount.

We currently have approx. 85 colleagues and 1000 volunteers. The purpose of this role is to work with the Regional Retail Manager and store teams in delivering income targets to support the vital work we do for Scotland and our local communities for the 1 in 5 people affected by our conditions.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a field role, whilst still retaining the hands on approach of a Store Manager, primarily the role is to support our fabulously unique Boutique stores in Auchterarder, Perth and Bridge of Allan, but also to be ready to support in our incredibly busy Discount stores, such as Grangemouth, and across the region on the East coast. The role will be varied, including supporting stores with training, standards of processes and merchandising, recruiting volunteers, maintaining stock levels and covering for annual leave to ensure we can keep stores open.

Working in our stores is a great opportunity to combine your retail experience, fashion awareness and people skills to take a bag of donated stock, utilise all your expertise and turn it into income for our services departments to put to good use across Scotland.

The role holder will provide support across teams and Directorates to make sure staff are aware of opportunities to get involved in the charity’s activities and to celebrate the successes of the charity, its staff and volunteers. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative communications all-rounder who is committed to delivering excellent communications to support the charity’s objectives and strategy. You will also need to be able to build strong effective relationships with key stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation.

As Internal Communications Officer you will be working full-time within our dynamic Communications and Fundraising Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to drive a people driven, strategic and cross-organisational approach to learning and development for both our volunteers and volunteer line managers. The role ensures that our 8,000 volunteers and 150 volunteers line managers have the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their role.

Acting as a source of expertise this role will be up to date with current theories and practice relating to learning and development, drive forward key programmes such as a review of our learning and development offer for volunteers, contribute to the delivery of CHSS current volunteer learning and development programme and advise and support colleagues and stakeholders around learning.

You will have

  • Knowledge and understanding of the current volunteering landscape and how this relates to an organisation of the scope and scale of CHSS
  • Experience in the field of learning and development, with responsibility for large numbers of volunteers in different locations across a wide geographical spread
  • Experience of designing, delivering and sourcing learning interventions – both face to face, digital and blended
  • Knowledge and understanding of volunteering best practice, policy and innovation
