The Role

Changes operates a small, vibrant, generic counselling service for adults in East Lothian aged 16 and over. Our team of about 10 part-time counsellors are a mix of staff, trainee and volunteer therapists offering around 45 appointments per week. We are looking to recruit qualified therapists passionate about mental health, wellbeing, and community, with an appetite for teamwork. The successful candidate will provide 1-1 counselling within a short-term, hybrid model, carry out counselling consultations (assessments), mentor trainee counsellors, write referrals and reports and undertake administrative tasks relating to client work. They will play an active role as a member of the Changes team, contributing ideas and input to support the development of Changes wider services.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated candidate who is confident working within a small, busy team whilst also with a high degree of autonomy. The postholder will be line managed by the Group Therapy Coordinator and work closely with them in providing therapy, primarily through groupwork to adults in East Lothian. They will be confident in learning and facilitating established therapy groups in both lead facilitator and co-facilitator roles. This post also provides the opportunity to be part of evaluating and developing the expanding Changes groupwork provision.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate seeking a challenge to join our busy, friendly and supportive team. The postholder will lead on the development and delivery of Changes Groups, Courses, and Volunteer Project. The role includes line management of a small team of staff and will include sourcing and liaising with freelance workers. The postholder will ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of activities and lead on new developments based on identified needs.

The role will include some facilitation of groups/courses as is the case for all staff. Community engagement and partnership building will be a key aspect of this role.

The appointment of a Project Development Coordinator comes at a time of development for our team and the postholder will be a part of this exciting change as we venture into some new avenues. We anticipate the role will evolve over time. Volunteer Coordination, including recruitment and support and supervision of volunteers will initially be a key focus, though as the role progresses, we aim to secure funding to appoint a Volunteer Coordinator.

This is an exciting time for Changes with many new activities and organisational developments, enabling us to increase our reach and provide support to those who need it most. Befriending Coordinator

Job Overview:

Changes are excited to have secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to set up and deliver ‘Well Connected’ a befriending programme supporting positive mental health and wellbeing. The befriending coordinated will be responsible for all aspects of the project, from designing and launching the service to its implementation and evaluation. The postholder will set up an Advisory Group to ensure the project is driven by the desires and demands of the community. The success of this new project will influence our ability to secure continued funding beyond the initial three years. We expect the postholder to take an active role in year 3 in seeking funding to enable the project to continue in the longer term.

This is a new role, introduced at an exciting time for Changes as we expand our team and increase and develop our service provisions.
