Amina - the Muslim Women's Resource Centre is a national women’s rights organisation which works with Muslim and BME women, to provide opportunities to have their voices heard, improve their skills and become more confident in participating in their own communities and at a wider level.

The Helpline and Development Project is funded by the Scottish Government and operates throughout Scotland. The project delivers the national helpline dedicated to supporting Muslim and BME women in Scotland. We provide a sensitive and understanding approach for women in need or in crisis. Additionally, the project aims to address unfair judgements about Muslim and BME women. We achieve this by organising targeted campaigns that focus on highlighting inequalities faced by women such as impacts of racism and Islamophobia. We provide opportunities for Muslim and BME women to share their lived experience and have their voices heard in policy and practice.

The post holder will provide the full range of administrative duties including reception duties; utilising a full range of IT applications; and other duties as required. The post will entail:

  • delivering training to organisations and communities, to Amina staff and volunteers
  • deliver workshops to Muslim/minority ethnic men’s groups across Scotland to end VAWG

  • using creative mediums such as film, art and theatre to challenge VAWG

Job Role

The Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for developing and overseeing the financial inclusion and employability work within the organisation, which includes the following workstreams: employability & ESOL, volunteering and financial advocacy. The Project Co-ordinator will line manage, support, and supervise development officers delivering these workstreams. The successful candidate will take a lead role in co-ordinating and developing employability initiatives and collaborations between key partners in the voluntary, statutory and private sectors – with a view to effect positive change within Amina’s financial inclusion, financial advocacy and volunteering objectives.

Job Role

We have secured funding from the CAF Resilience Fund to employ a Volunteer Development Officer based at our Glasgow Office to support women who are looking to volunteer with third sector organisations. The Volunteer Development Officer will manage all elements of this volunteering programme with partnership organisations across Glasgow. The role involves assessing each organisation’s needs and then meeting those needs through the recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers. The Volunteer Development Officer will manage volunteers and their relationship with those they meet, including employees, existing volunteers, and service users of each organisation. They will also monitor, evaluate, and accredit volunteers.
