North Argyll Carers Centre seeks to recruit an Adult Carer Support Worker.

North Argyll Carers Centre is a value-based charity, which supports those who look after a family member or friend due to illness, disability, frailty or addiction on an unpaid basis. We are affiliated to Carers Trust.

We are seeking to recruit an Adult Carer Support Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers across the Oban Lorn and Isles area. Based at our centre in Oban, you will work within the Adult Carer Support Team, providing emotional and practical support to unpaid carers across the Oban and Lorn area.

The post requires:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to prepare reports and maintain appropriate records
  • Computer skills including the use of email, internet and Microsoft Office programmes
  • An understanding of the issues affecting unpaid carers.
  • Willingness to travel independently throughout the Oban and Lorn area and wider afield if necessary.

Use of car and a current driving licence essential.

Young Carer Support Worker

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of unpaid young carers across the Oban Lorn and Isles area.

Key duties:

• Providing person-centred emotional and practical support to young carers across the Oban, Lorn and isles area

• Assisting in the planning, provision and delivery of a programme of events, activities, outings, short breaks and training for individuals and groups of young carers

• Working with young carers to create their Young Carer Statements in line with the requirements of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016

• Ensuring that accurate carer records are maintained, and activity reports produced, to provide information required by the Board of Trustees and statutory and non-statutory funders

The successful applicant will be resilient, self-motivated and confident; a team player with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; practical and methodical with a keen eye for detail. They will demonstrate the ability to empathise with children and young people in difficult circumstances and offer non-judgemental support, building strong relationships based on trust an integrity.

A full driving licence and access to own vehicle is required for this post.
