DIWC is looking for a Finance Director to come and join us on our Board of Directors.

About Dundee International Womens Centre (DIWC)

The Centre has been supporting isolated and disadvantaged women, particularly those from Black and Minority Ethnic communities, since 1969. We hold social and health promoting groups, skills-based classes, English classes, SQA training and Employability as well as running a social enterprise childcare service.

Time Commitment

The time commitment for this role can be up to 6 hours per month. This consists of attending Board Meetings the first Monday of each month which can be up to 2 hours early evening normally face to face at our centre in Dundee along with the ability to attend a once monthly Finance and Budget Meeting which is up to 2 hours either on a Tuesday or Wednesday during the day or early evening. This can be face to face or via TEAMS/Zoom.

Along with the meetings above time would be required to read and study all papers and reports in advance of meetings along with attending any sub-group meetings as appropriate.

We need an enthusiastic, conscientious team player, who is creative in using digital technology in an educational centre for women.

The role of this job is to review and update training materials, present information in an engaging way and to digitise materials to enhance learner experience, and to upskill staff and learners in digital usage

Working as part of the Violence Against Women project and Prevent project teams, you will need an understanding of translating content to digital teaching materials.

It will be advantageous if you have:

• The ability to research and keep up to date with social media trends

• Experience of training/teaching

• A knowledge of structural inequality

About the role:

This is a new post which gives the holder the scope to develop the Connecting Cultures Project. Connecting Cultures aims to promote inclusion and resilient communities while challenging divisive narratives, extremism in all forms and hate crime.

You will:

• Create training materials to be used in adult learning classes and run workshops with parenting groups, covering issues like disinformation, cultural division, hate crime, radicalisation and racism.

• Work with other relevant organisations and the Scottish Government to increase understanding of vulnerable people and the effect these issues have on them.

You will be

• Committed to bringing people from different communities together

• Knowledgeable about the Contest Framework in Scotland

• An excellent organiser, able to set and meet targets

• Able to design and deliver group training
