Our mission is to inspire, encourage and challenge people of all ages and backgrounds to explore, understand and engage with the world around them and to communicate the educational, social and economic benefits of science and technology. As leaders in our field of Science Communication, we work year-round to create and deliver dynamic hands-on workshops and exhibitions and inspirational shows, discussions, debates and performances that continually push the boundaries of public engagement with science. Communication and engagement is at the core of all our work and we strive to ensure that this is embedded in all aspects of our organisation.
About the role:
The successful applicant will bring experience and knowledge with which to lead Edinburgh Science, Edinburgh Science Worldwide and Edinburgh Science Foundation. With a deep commitment to our mission and vision, and the ability to provide effective support and challenge to the Board of Trustees, you will play a key role in shaping the means of achieving our vision.
There are four full board meetings of Edinburgh Science Ltd and a further four executive management committee meetings that consider the work of our three entities Edinburgh Science Ltd, Edinburgh Science Worldwide Ltd (handles overseas work) and Edinburgh Science Foundation (parent charity) you would be expected to chair.

We are expanding our Fundraising team and are looking to recruit for the role of: Development Officer (Fundraising)
Each year, Edinburgh Science delivers one of Europe’s largest science festivals, a primary school education programme across Scotland, a careers event for secondary school pupils and a variety of international programming activities and projects. We believe in inspiring, encouraging, and challenging people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and understand the world around them.
About the role:
As part of our Development (Fundraising) team, you will seek out, identify, and secure financial support from a range of sources including companies, trusts, and individuals with a focus on developing giving circles across funding streams. You will also develop and strengthen relationships with existing funding partners, delivering the highest level of service.
With proven experience in a fundraising, sponsorship, or sales environment, you will have experience of making successful funding asks and hold a good working knowledge across one or several funding streams. You will be pro-active, enthusiastic, target driven, and play a key role in delivering the organisation’s fundraising targets.
You will have a flexible, creative and collaborative approach, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multi-task while working under pressure.
