Nursery Worker

We are currently seeking to appoint a nursery worker for our Child & Family Centre in Govan.

Glasgow City Mission’s Child & Family Centre provides a number of valuable services to the local community from nursery provision and parenting support classes, to counselling and confidence building activities. Working with over 100 children and their families, our aim is to break the poverty cycle and give children in Govan the best start in life. By investing in safe guarding and supporting families, we help children and parent alike grow to become confident and ‘life equipped’.

The nursery worker will work as part of a team and be jointly responsible for the provision of a safe and stimulating environment for children attending the Child & Family Centre nursery.

Applicants should be qualified to SVQ III or equivalent in childcare and should have experience of working with children in a nursery setting. Candidates should be in sympathy with the Christian aims and ethos of Glasgow City Mission.

We’re seeking staff who are motivated to tackle the problem of homelessness, with the skills to create a welcoming environment for people with complex needs. With the ongoing presence of Covid-19, the new look Glasgow Overnight Welcome Centre anticipates receiving hundreds of guests seeking refuge and a warm, safe place to sleep.

All are fixed term posts from a proposed opening on 1 November 2020 to 31 March 2021, averaging 44 hours per week.

We welcome applications from those with lived experience of homelessness or asylum/immigration.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Lead Practitioner for Attainment for our Child & Family Centre in Govan.

As part of the childcare team of the nursery, this role will provide additional support for children who need it most in order to close the attainment gap, through helping boost cognitive development and reduce any disparity that opens up before children start primary school.

Applicants should hold or be working towards the BA Childhood Practice, PDA, Certificate / Diploma in Early Childhood Studies or other relevant advanced qualification. Candidates should be in sympathy with the ethos of Glasgow City Mission.
