Team Leader – Support at Home

Milltown Community is a small, independent and forward-looking charity which has adapted, changed and is now thriving in its vision to enable neurodiverse adults and those with learning challenges to be the best they can be, to achieve and to be enabled rather than disabled. Our current residential community of 7 amazing tenants living in two houses, is supplemented each day by up to 20 workers and learners who are developing land based and artisan craft skills at our rural location in Arbuthnott in the south of Aberdeenshire. We are a registered ASDAN qualifications centre offering a combination of short courses and Employability programmes all from our productive small holding and workshops on site.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Team Leader for our Support at Home service, as part of out management team, who can align our Vision, Values and Mission with their own. You will aspire to be a compassionate and collaborative leader who understands the importance of building strong teams within Health & Social Care.

We need someone who can work with our other Team Leader to encourage our team of 12 Support Workers to be the best they can be, someone who can ensure compliance and high practice standards and someone who is prepared to provide an example of what an exemplary person centred support at home service should be.

You will work collaboratively with the General Manager/CEO Designate and our other Team Leader to develop the incredible opportunities that Milltown Community presents, to grow our Support at Home service delivery and to be an integral member of our senior management team.

We will be offering the successful candidate the unique proposition of combining operational management responsibility with a learning and development programme that will enable you to pursue additional professional qualifications both SVQ’s and PDA’s. You will be assigned a mentor who maybe outside the organisation to help you on your personal development programme at Milltown, enabling you to benefit from their many years of experience in professional management standards, charity leadership, human resources, financial management, business development, operational planning, income generation and outcomes based commissioning; all within the context of regulated health & social care provision in Scotland.

Top job! General Manager (with the opportunity of appointment to Chief Executive)

Milltown Community is looking for an ambitious General Manager who is interested in embarking on a career journey towards becoming the charity’s Chief Executive Officer.

In Partnership with Third Sector Solutions Scotland, we will provide up to 18 months of individual coaching and mentoring to develop the Chief Executive we need to grow and develop our health & social care support services, both Support at Home and Supported Learning, Skills Development and Employability.

So, we need to find someone who sees our potential, who has experience in managing healthy & social care services as a ‘registered manager’, who understands outcomes based commissioning and has managed contract service provision. But that someone also needs to have a passion for and understand of why learning & skills development opportunities are so important to enabling our learners to live as independently as possible and to make a valuable contribution within our communities.

Chief Executive Officer

Milltown Community is a calm and positive community set in the beautiful Mearns countryside. It is a supportive environment where neuro diverse adults can live and work as independently as possible, have aspirations, be ambitious, and live life to the fullest. The community of tenants, day workers, trainees, volunteers and support staff, live and work surrounded by the natural world in rural south Aberdeenshire. Some of the tenants have lived at the community for all of their adult lives. Currently the community is supporting seven residential tenants and up to an average of ten day workers per day who attend the workshop facility, with the intention to increase these numbers.

You will join the community at an exciting time following a period of positive change, with the very recent successful award of a new two year support at Home contract worth almost £1m. A comprehensive review had led to a new Board being appointed and creation of the new Chief Executive role.

The community is growing and developing new projects, initiative and workstreams. Exciting new projects are being planned including; a bicycle recycling and a productive market garden supplying local communities and restaurants.

You don’t need to be a Chief Executive already. This is an opportunity for someone who is ready to make the step up to lead an organisation. You’ll be a confident and inspiring manager with experience of working for a charity that provides a health and social care service, ideally within a residential care setting and with experience of working with neuro diverse adults.

This is a genuine opportunity for someone to take on their first charity Chief Executive role. The role will require strategic clarity, inspiring leadership, strong and sensitive management, investment in people and technology, setting and achieving very high standards and building a cohesive, values driven and uplifting culture. You will be supported by retained expert Interim Managers for the first three months to help the new postholder settle into the role and new Board members are also being recruited with skills that can support this appointment.

Change and Improvement Manager

Milltown Community is part of the Camphill Scotland network. Milltown provides day & supported living services to people with a wide range of additional support needs who live in South Aberdeenshire

Based in a countryside setting in Arbuthnott, the Community has a large site which includes 3 supported living houses, 2 workshops & a variety of outbuildings. The workshops, outbuildings & some of the grounds are used to provide days services or storage areas as required.

We have received money from the Scottish Executive Adapt & Thrive fund to enable the Community to develop a medium to long term deliverable plan for the sustainable operation, management and staffing of Milltown Community covering both the Day Workshop and the Supported Living Services.

This will be a exciting period of change & the postholder will play an integral part of forming the vision & implementing the process in conjunction with Milltown Community Council.

Due to the nature of the post it is envisaged that the majority of the time will be based on site at Milltown throughout the duration of the contract.

The post will be on a self employed basis
