Charity registered in Scotland SC014283

Scottish Youth Theatre (SYT) is one of Scotland’s national youth performing arts companies and has been providing theatre arts experiences to young people in Scotland since 1977. We bring together young people from across Scotland to develop them as theatre-makers in their own right. We facilitate their collaboration with industry professionals to extend their learning and inspire their ambitions. We support them in making work that is bold, relevant and high quality.

General Manager

  • Full time
  • £30,900
  • Glasgow
  • Closing 13th June 2021

Scottish Youth Theatre exists to support aspiring and emerging artists in Scotland, aged 14-25, across intersections and geographies, investing in them to become theatre makers, cultural leaders, artivists and agents of change. With a national focus, we explicitly create frameworks that enable young people to engage in projects and programmes that match their needs, interests and levels of experience. In 2021 Scottish Youth Theatre deeply connects with the most pressing issues of the day for young people. We pride ourselves on creating the right environments for young creatives to flourish. Participants are at the helm of their own creative journeys and the work they make as individuals, small collectives and in ensemble groups, is their opportunity to interrogate, question and reflect on ideas and concerns that matter to them. We match them with experienced professionals to broaden their artistic horizons, challenge their assumptions and amplify their individual and collective voices.

Our current Finance Director, Caroline Cosgrove, will be leaving the organisation after 25 years of service. This is a reshaped role designed to meet the changing needs of the organisation. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you’ll be an individual who enjoys being that safe pair of hands, maintaining the systems and frameworks for the whole team to thrive and providing rigour in areas of company compliance and business planning. You’ll be the kind of person who thrives on collaboration with colleagues and equally comfortable driving things forward independently. You’ll be particularly good with the fine detail of budgets and accounting and relish a good spreadsheet to support financial planning and tracking. A problem solver, rather than problem bringer, you’ll understand your important contribution to organisational development and realising new company ambitions.
