Scottish War Blinded provides free support and assistance to veterans of the armed forces who have a vision impairment. We support men and women who have lost their sight subsequently to their service, as well as those injured in a war.

We are looking for a motivated, caring and organised person to join our team to work with members to identify and meet their individual needs in order to increase and maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life.

Interim Senior Centre Officer

We are looking for a caring, motivated and organised person to join our team at our Linburn Centre.

You will provide leadership to the team and co-ordinate the services we provide alongside the centre management team. This role is initially temporary for a 6 month period.

Our Hawkhead and Linburn Centres provide innovative and person-centred services and support to our members. The services aim to reduce isolation and anxiety often felt by those with sight loss, while improving confidence to live well with a visual impairment now and in the future. At Sight Scotland Veterans, our Linburn Centre is an activity hub to support the independence of armed forces veterans with sight loss. We are looking for a support worker to join our team of skilled and enthusiastic staff.

You will work with our members to develop ways to support their independence. This may be through implementing care and support plans or leading and creating activities. You will be expected to work with members both individually and in group settings, enabling them to gain the maximum benefit and enjoyment from their time in the Centre.

Applicants must have a commitment to working with people with sight loss to maximise their choice and control over their lives. If you do not already have an SVQ2 in health and social care, we will expect you to be willing to work towards this qualification.

Our Hawkhead Centre is an activity hub to support the independence of armed forces veterans with sight loss. We are looking for a Receptionist/Administrator to provide a positive and welcoming face for the organisation at reception and ensure the smooth running of the Centre through their excellent administrative skills. You will be responsible for a range of administrative and financial functions within the Centre and be able to problem solve and prioritise work on a daily basis.

You will have previous experience in a receptionist role dealing with a wide variety of individuals using a service, other organisations and members of the public.

Driver

Would you like to join an exciting and unique service for Armed Forces veterans with a vision impairment?

Our Hawkhead Centre is an activity hub to support the independence of armed forces veterans with sight loss. We are looking for a driver to help us transport our members to and from the service. The role involves driving a variety of routes locally, assisting members use the transport safely and routine maintenance of minibuses and cars.

You must be eligible to drive a minibus (hold a D1 Licence if applicable) and have a clean current driving licence. Good time keeping and reliability are essential. The Hawkhead Centre will be open during daytime hours Monday-Friday, with some occasional requirement for weekend or evening work. Please note that the hours for this role are 20 per week, these will be worked over 5 days and you will be required to do split shifts, covering the morning and afternoon transport arrangements.
