Tron Theatre is seeking to appoint a new Artistic Director to play a vital role in ensuring the future success of the organisation.
One of Scotland’s leading building-based theatres with its own in-house production company, the Tron Theatre delivers a very exciting programme of work servicing the needs of Glasgow and West of Scotland communities, as well as enjoying a strong UK and international profile. Located in Glasgow’s Merchant City the theatre consists of an atmospheric 230-seat Main Auditorium, 62-seat Changing House studio, a workshop space, the Victorian Bar (now converted into a workshop and rehearsal space), dressing rooms, a ‘get-in’ area, café bar, box office and office accommodation for administration and production staff.
Working collaboratively with the Board and Executive Director, the Artistic Director will be responsible for ensuring the Tron Theatre delivers its vision and strategic objectives. At the core of this is a commitment to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation and recognising that, in managing all of our resources, we do so to minimise our impact on the environment. The Artistic Director will be the face of the Tron and as such an ambassador for the organisation, responsible for maintaining the Tron Theatre as a key contributor to the artistic life of Glasgow and the West of Scotland, an integral part of the Scottish theatre eco-system and a hub of national and international cultural significance.
Although this position has traditionally been a full-time role, we are open to the Artistic Director working within condensed hours, a 0.8 contract or on a joint/job-share basis that rethinks and revitalises traditional models.
Tron Theatre is seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to join the Board of Trustees of Tron Theatre Ltd as Chair.
The Chair provides leadership to the Board and Executive Team, harnessing and directing the Trustees’ efforts in support of the Theatre’s wide-ranging creative and engagement activities. This is an exciting time for the organisation as we look towards a new Artistic Director in 2024.
Our Chair will work both with the Board and the Tron Executive Team to develop and implement a new business plan for 2025 – 2030. They should be passionate about theatre and the Tron’s key role in the Glasgow and Scottish Theatre sector for supporting emerging creatives, delivering education and participation programmes to underserved communities, and producing new work.
They should be committed to ensuring that the core values of equality, diversity and inclusion, of environmental sustainability and business resilience are central to the Tron’s operations and everything it delivers.

Business Development Manager

The Tron was established as a charity in 1982, by the Glasgow Theatre Company, to develop Scottish theatre and theatre makers. We continue to fulfil this purpose through the Tron Theatre Company, our Tron Creative programme of support for emerging creatives, our Tron Participation team’s educational opportunities for people of all ages, and our visiting productions. Around 50,000 tickets are booked each year, and The Stage recently wrote that “The Tron is staking a claim as the home of popular theatre in Scotland”.
The role of the Business Development Manager is to maximise the Tron’s income through fundraising including sponsorship, trust and foundations and individual donations. The individual should be creative in their approach, seeking opportunities for the commercial exploitation of the building and identification of potential income streams which exist or could be developed. This role is also responsible for coordinating our successful community programme Pay it Forward, which donates panto tickets to children and families experiencing disadvantage and grows each year. The Business Development Manager will work across teams - Box Office, Production, Press & Marketing, Tron Participation and Tron Creative - in co-ordinating activity within the building, and will work closely with the Executive Director and the Tron’s Board of Directors.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Tron, a Glasgow arts institution which is recognised for developing new talent and launching theatre careers as well as its work with young people and in the community. This is a varied and collaborative role which requires a creative and dynamic fundraiser with strong communication skills.
Marketing & Communications Officer

The Marketing & Communications Officer is a key role within a small but extremely busy department that delivers strategic marketing and communication campaigns for all Tron Theatre activity.
The Marketing & Communications Officer will work with the Head of Marketing & Communications and across the wider Tron team to find innovative ways to promote all areas of the Tron’s work through on and offline marketing, customer relationship management and public relations and media, driving audience development, engagement and revenue and enhancing the Tron’s reputation as a leading venue nationally, and within the wider UK and international theatre sectors.
This will include being responsible for the development, creation and delivery of day-to-day, targeted and compelling digital content across the Tron’s social media platforms that will inspire and engage existing audiences as well as build new audiences.
The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of tactical marketing, including the use of digital and new media. Good tech and IT knowledge and proven experience reporting on campaign delivery are key skills for this role. The right person will have the ability to write and source engaging copy for marketing material and be able to manage a range of marketing campaigns in a collaborative and inclusive way. We’re looking for someone who is able to bring enthusiasm, imagination, creativity and initiative to their work.

Tron Theatre, Glasgow seeks an Executive Director and Joint Chief Executive to work with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors to deliver the Tron’s strategic and operational plans.
The Executive Director and Joint Chief Executive will report directly to the Board of Directors and will play a key role in taking The Tron through its next stage of development.
Tron Theatre is one of Scotland’s leading producing and presenting theatres. It is the home of Tron Theatre Company which produces 4-5 productions each year alongside co-productions and collaborations with other theatre companies. We focus on new work and contemporary classic theatre whether through our own productions or visiting companies. The Tron is a cultural hub for local artists and much support is given to emerging theatre companies and the platforming of new projects through the Tron Creative strand of work. The Tron Theatre also delivers an extensive Participation programme through the Creative Learning strand of work. The Participation programme takes place at the Tron and in the community, engaging with participants of all ages and abilities.

We are the west of Scotland’s only mid-scale producing venue which delivers challenging, contemporary theatre both at home and abroad, while facilitating participation in the arts amongst people of all ages. Our core aim of producing engaging theatre runs alongside a commitment to developing talent and enabling local people to access our work.
Pay it Forward is a fundraising initiative which enables children and families experiencing disadvantage to attend our Christmas panto for free. When at the Tron, beneficiaries receive ice cream and gifts, and we usually organise a Pay it Forward party and offer workshops on the panto tradition to local groups. We have worked with a diverse range of local charities and community groups to involve their service users including NSPCC, Scottish Refugee Council, Down Syndrome Scotland and Women’s Aid. We raise the vast majority of funds from public collections during our annual panto, along with contributions from local businesses.
This part time sessional role combines elements of the arts, fundraising and supporting cultural access and inclusion in an exciting opportunity to work on the Tron Theatre’s popular Pay it Forward scheme. During your time at the Tron you will have the opportunity to support local people experiencing social and economic disadvantage, while gaining experience of fundraising (individual giving, corporate sponsorship) project management, community engagement and working in an arts venue.

We are seeking a Venue Technician to join our Technical Team.
The Key Objectives of the role are:
- To participate in the efficient and effective running of the production department, providing technical facilitation for a range of Tron Theatre productions, visiting productions, events and activities.
- To work cohesively within the technical team to facilitate all events and to provide a safe, tidy and welcoming working environment within the building for all in-house and visiting company staff.
- To proactively work as a member of the Production department to effectively deliver technical support and contributing positively to the department as a whole
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience working in professional theatre, ideally with experience in a building-based environment. Experience of all technical aspects including sound / lighting, video will be essential alongside excellent interpersonal and team working skills and a flexible and hands on approach. Experience in other aspects of theatre, e.g stage work, flying, rigging, set fit ups and stage management would also be beneficial.
