Policy and Research Officer

Scotland’s largest vision impairment organisation is seeking to appoint a part time Policy and Research Officer to join our communications department. This role will support our Policy Manager to ensure that Royal Blind and Scottish War Blinded policy campaigns have visibility, credibility and impact across a broad range of decision makers, elected representatives and influencers in Scotland.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a role related to policy development, gathering evidence through a range of research methods and using this data to produce policy documents and research-based publications.

He / she will have a high level of analytical, written and communication skills and demonstrable experience of researching, analysing and organising diverse materials.

To support our new ambition, we are re-branding in October and will also be launching new values. The Internal and Change Communications Manager will be instrumental in engaging colleagues across both charities to embed our new brand and values as well as managing our intranet, colleague newsletters and other communications campaigns. The post holder also occasionally develops strategies spanning both internal and external audiences in relation to change management.

To support our new ambition, we are re-branding in October. The digital and social media executive will key to supporting the roll out of our new brand and our organisation’s growth strategy.

As Digital and Social Media Executive you will be responsible for the creation of innovative digital content for a range of audiences with our new brand by telling compelling stories on new and existing social media channels.

You will play a key role in creating campaigns to build engagement with our fundraising strategy, and the expansion of our services across Scotland.

Experience of creating and communicating with skills in copywriting, video and editing is essential. You will have experience of using insight tools to analyse the effectiveness of campaigns and content, and will drive improvements in user experience of our digital communications.
