The Welcoming Association exists to welcome, orientate and assist migrant and refugee communities in Edinburgh. We currently provide English language classes, employability workshops and social and cultural integration opportunities on a free of charge, immediate start basis to over 1000 migrants and refugees from 60 different countries each year.
The Welcoming Association is a charity that works with asylum seekers, refugees, migrant workers and newcomers in Edinburgh.
We are looking to recruit a volunteer Chairperson to lead the Board in ensuring the effective performance of its governance responsibilities. The chairperson will work in partnership with the Director to help him/her achieve the objectives set for the organization and to ensure there is an effective relationship between the Board, staff, volunteers, participants, funders and other stakeholders.
We would particularly, but not exclusively, welcome applications from people with experience and skills in the following areas:

The Welcoming Health Project is a volunteer-led health and wellbeing initiative for migrants and refugees in Edinburgh. The purpose of this part-time role is therefore to plan, deliver and evaluate the Edinburgh Joined Board funded Welcoming Health Project for the duration of three years (2019- 31st March 2022).
Please note that you must already be eligible to work in the UK to be employed at The Welcoming Association. All successful candidates must also provide a clear Basic Disclosure Certificate before the job can be awarded.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work of The Welcoming Association and provide support for migrants and refugees in Edinburgh. The post holder will be responsible for the Welcoming Friendship befriending programme funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. This programme aims to help newcomers to Edinburgh to make connections and develop friendships with local people, assisting with their integration to their new communities.
