GCU Students Association exists to represent and enable GCU students to enhance all aspects of their student experience. We are an award winning Students Association. We were the first Students Association to have received the NUS Scotland University Students Association of the Year Award in 2011 and the first Students Association, within the modern Scottish universities, to have achieved the Student Union Evaluation Initiative Award.

Student Adviser

We are currently recruiting a Student Adviser to support student enquiries and casework, on both academic and personal issues, within our Advice Centre. Our primary specialism is supporting students through university processes. This post holder would also be responsible for establishing, co-ordinating and evaluating the rollout of existing mental health and wellbeing training programmes for our members. You should have experience in delivering advice work, advocacy, support or wellbeing services.

We are seeking an individual to support the work of our Advice Centre through non-judgemental confidential advisory, support and information services to GCU students and support our mental health and wellbeing initiatives. You should have experience of delivering advice work, advocacy, support or wellbeing services through using your active listening or counselling skills. Applicants should have a positive approach, be highly motivated, possess good interpersonal skills, have a can do attitude and enjoy working in a busy environment. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and with all different kinds of life experiences, to reflect the diversity of our members (GCU students).

This post is initially for a fixed term contract until December 2022. We are seeking funding to extend this contract or to make the post permanent. This job will be based at the Glasgow Campus of Glasgow Caledonian University, with the ability to work from home one day per week.

Executive Assistant

We are recruiting for an Executive Assistant to support our elected Full Time Officers, the Chief Executive and to clerk various internal committees, such as Trustee Board, Health and Safety, Student Voice and Executive Committee. You should have a positive, welcoming and can do attitude, have previous experience in undertaking administrative work and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You would be based in the Students' Association Building on the Glasgow Campus at Glasgow Caledonian University. You don't need to have been to university or college to apply for this role, we are happy to support you in developing your knowledge about our Students' Association. We want to foster a diverse and inclusive working environment. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and with all different kinds of life experiences, to reflect the diversity of our members (GCU students).

Employees receive 38 days annual leave (that includes 13 bank holidays) and we have other enhanced benefits and policies to support employee wellbeing, care responsibilities and flexible working. This includes our offices closing over the Christmas period. This role is busier from September to Mid December (Trimester A) and Mid January to Mid April (Trimester B). Out with these periods this provides the opportunity to take annual leave and/or for flexible working. You will be required to work some evenings to clerk meetings and would be able to work from home one day a week.

Bookkeeper (Maternity Cover)

We are recruiting for a Bookkeeper to be located in the Students' Association Building at Glasgow Caledonian University. You should have at least three years relevant experience in bookkeeping or financial administration and in using Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll. You would be working on your own in a busy environment where you will engage with lots of students, so you would need to be able to juggle priorities and be comfortable meeting lots of people, although you will be supported by a Management Team and an external Accountant.
