Because Citizens Advice Bureaux are managed and used by people within the community, they deliver services that meet the needs of local people. They provide practical advice, negotiate on behalf of clients and even represent them formally, such as at tribunal hearings.

Safe and Warm Energy Advisers

We are excited to announce that we are recruiting for the posts of Energy Advisers for both East and South Ayrshire Safe and Warm Projects funded by SGN.

The Energy Advisers will provide in-depth, holistic and bespoke energy advice to those in or at risk of fuel poverty. The Energy Advisers will be asked to work to targets to successfully deliver the project.

The Energy Advisers will be expected to support or deliver group sessions throughout the year. These will be aimed at asylum seekers, minority ethnic groups, travellers, Park Home communities, digitally excluded and other vulnerable groups and/or frontline workers who support these groups. It is expected that there will be twice as many frontline workers as clients supported at group sessions. Citizens Advice Scotland will provide training materials for bureaux to use at these sessions.

Responsibilities will also include one to one case work with our clients across the geographical area, working within our offices, at home and various other locations.

Full training will be provided for both Income Maximisation and Energy Issues therefore a keen willingness and aptitude to learn is essential. The Energy Advisers will be expected to complete and pass relevant qualifications within their probationary period.

The Energy Advisers will be highly motivated individuals who have excellent communication skills. IT (Microsoft office) skills are essential for case work recording purposes and preparing presentations.

A commitment to Equal Opportunities is also a requirement for this post and an understanding of social policy work would be an advantage.
