Development Officer – Renfrewshire & East Renfrewshire

Food Train is an award winning voluntary organisation, providing practical support services to older people across Scotland, helping them to eat well, live well and age well. Our Renfrewshire & East Renfrewshire branch currently offers 2 services to older people: grocery shopping and our innovative Meal Makers neighbourhood meal sharing service. Due to additional funding, we are now seeking an outstanding individual to help develop our services in the Renfrewshire & East Renfrewshire region.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual committed to the voluntary sector and older people’s services. Applicants will have excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of volunteer management and service delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience of successful, people-based service development and partnership working in the voluntary sector. Having a driver’s licence and access to a car for work purposes is essential to the Development Officer’s role.

Project Dietician

Food Train is looking for a Project Dietitian to join our Eat Well Age Well project to contribute to the reduction of malnutrition amongst older people in Scotland. Funded by Big Lottery UK and with its focus in preventative work, this 3.5 year project is taking the lead nationally in identifying ways to support older people access good nutrition and hydration. Work streams include building collaborative relationships, testing change methodology, conducting research and evaluation, policy into practice and capacity building.

This role offers the opportunity to provide nutritional evidence, guidance and support for the Eat Well Age Well project and will provide a clinical conduit to the dietetics community across Scotland, liaising with the British Dietetic Association (Scotland Board), Scottish Dietitians Leaders Network and the UK Malnutrition Task Force.

We are looking for a suitably skilled, socially aware and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in food and nutrition, people and communities. You will need to hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in dietetics or human nutrition and dietetics and have specialist knowledge and experience of working with older people and / or nutrition acquired through training or practice based experience.
