iWork (Employability Programme) Support Advisor

Job Purpose

The PUSH iWork Employment Support role is part funded through the (ESF) European Structural Funds and its purpose is to offer face to face employability advice and support that will assist, ESF eligible Perth & Kinross residents to secure appropriate and sustainable employment. This role will be 100% ESF and will involve working alongside other Perth & Kinross Council colleagues and partner representatives within designated outreach facilities and job search activities.

Main Accountabilities

• Undertake face to face employability support to service users who have a learning disability or additional support needs

• Interview service users to obtain eligibility compatibility, employment history, educational background and career goals

• Identify barriers to employment and assist service users with such matters as job readiness, skills, job search strategies, CV building and preparing for job interviews

• Enable service users to participate in the PUSH iWork employability programme delivered at the PUSH Reuse Shop or PUSH Warehouse

• Source training and qualification courses for the skills development of service users

• Assess the need for assistance such as financial aid, further vocational training or learning and refer service users to the appropriate service

• Collect labour market information for service users regarding job opening, entry and skills requirements and other occupational information

• Maintain and develop relationships with key partners such as the Perth & Kinross Secondary Schools, Perth College UHI, Job Centre Plus, Skills development Scotland and ESF Employability Pipeline agencies involved in providing career planning resources and/or employment opportunities

• Support colleagues (ESF keyworkers) to achieve the outcomes of the PUSH iWork programme

• Maintain IT files and service user’s records to a required quality standard to ensure the service user journey is documented for audit and reporting purposes

• Ensure compliance with PUSH policies(including Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Data Security) so that service users and colleagues are protected at all times

• The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time depending on the requirements of the service without changing the general character of the duties of the level of responsibilities entailed.

Knowledge & Experience

• A good standard of general education and experience working in a related subject/field

• The ability to build rapport and work effectively with individuals with various levels of support needs

• Knowledge of the local labour market

• Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft office

• High level of client care when dealing with service users, colleagues and partners

Health & Safety

• Able to cope with the demands of the post and attend on a regular basis

• You will be able to maintain a safe and healthy work environment

• Willing to undertake Health & safety training relevant to the post

• Hold good oral communication skills and accurate written communication skills
