The Service

The Service

Based in Edinburgh, the work will involve developing harm reduction initiatives within our homeless accommodation services in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Arbroath. The Role

The role of the Project Worker will include:

The Service

Our Priory Outreach service provides housing support and care at home for people with complex drug and alcohol issues who may also have other difficulties including; challenging behaviour, forensic needs, mental health difficulties, cognitive impairment and a physical disability.

The service provides practical support to people to maintain their tenancy and provide a safe and secure environment. The service also provides support to help people participate in social activities and access resources in the community relevant to their care and support needs.

We have part time, permanent hours available within the service.

We also have a 30 hour Maternity cover post available within the service. (Nine months or until post holder returns).

The Role

Your role as Support Worker will include:

Providing emotional support when the person you are working with is feeling low and supporting people to access further support services

Supporting the delivery of Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) to people who are unable to do so themselves due to health needs

Working as part of a friendly and supportive staff team to provide the highest quality of care

Receiving training to effectively carry out your role including drug and alcohol awareness and naloxone training.

You Will

Be passionate about working with people to help them overcome their challenges and support their recovery

Have good communication skills, both written and verbal

Our St John’s Hill service based in the centre of Edinburgh, provides temporary accommodation and support to twenty one single homeless individuals who often experience multiple and complex needs.

  • Be responsible for the overall provision of a quality support; service to enable individuals to work on issues which may have contributed to their homelessness, and to help move them on to longer term sustainable accommodation in local communities;

The Role

The role of the Support Worker will include:

  • Supporting individuals to move on from the service and resettle in the community, in a permanent housing option suited to their needs
  • Covering gaps in an established rota
  • Working a variety of shifts including; early shifts, backshifts, and weekend working

You Will

  • Be confident in dealing with a homeless client group and have compassion and understanding for the issues homeless people face
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team and on a lone working basis
  • Be organised with good time keeping skills
  • Be able to demonstrate transferrable skills relating to care
  • Hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or have the ability and willingness to undertake study to achieve this
  • Be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up the post

The Service

Our St John’s Hill service based in the centre of Edinburgh, provides temporary accommodation and support to twenty one single homeless individuals who often experience multiple and complex needs.

The Role

As a Support Worker you will:

  • Report directly to the manager and assistant manager;
  • Be responsible for the overall provision of a quality support; service to enable individuals to work on issues which may have contributed to their homelessness, and to help move them on to longer term sustainable accommodation in local communities;
  • Develop excellent, supportive relationships with individuals to help them agree with areas of their lives that they would like support with, and offer direct support to achieve their desired outcomes;
  • Maintain required paperwork and contribute to the overall delivery of the service.

You Will

  • Be highly motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills;
  • Have knowledge and experience of working with individuals;
  • Be an excellent team player who is able to inspire and motivate others;
  • Have a strong personal and professional values;
  • Hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or be willing to undertake study to achieve this.;
