Home Link Family Support is a successful award winning small charity supporting families in Edinburgh and Midlothian through the delivery of the following home visiting services: Family Support, Ante-natal Support, Young Parents Support and Systemic Family Counselling.  Our objective is to help reduce disadvantage to families with young children across Edinburgh and Midlothian.

If you are experienced in the role as a Family Support Worker who would like to provide holistic therapeutic support working within an established team of therapists and help primary school children and their families access therapeutic interventions, we would like to hear from you. You should have good working knowledge of implementing GIRFEC principles. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with young children who are experiencing social and emotional challenges or have had difficulty accessing learning and/or are experiencing financial hardship. You will initially be expected to work within a blended model of remote support and safe face-to-face contact, building up to visiting families in their own homes as government guidelines allow. Having access to a car for business use is essential. Job share would be considered.

The impact of the Covid 19 pandemic has had a significant effect upon children and their parent/carers, as a result we have seen an increase in requests for support from parents who are experiencing distress. We are seeking a Mental Health Family Support Worker who will provide early intervention practical support to parent/carers with children in their early years. You will be an experienced practitioner who has the knowledge and understanding of how to offer effective support to parents and their mental health needs. You will initially be expected to work within a blended model of working from home and the office to deliver safe face-to-face contact in the community and family homes. Having access to a car for business use is essential. This post is funded initially for 18 months.

Back on Track- is a partnership between Home Link Family Support (HLFS), CrossReach and Goodtree’s Neighbourhood Centre, with additional referral support from the locality Parent and Carer Development Officer. Our mission is to enable holistic, multi-disciplinary interventions on a longer-term basis for children, young people and their families.

Back on Track has been successful in being awarded funding for 3 years (possible extension to 5) from the City Of Edinburgh Community Mental Health Framework

Back on Track aim’s to achieve the following:

  • A dedicated service available and housed in the local community with prominent presence and visibility
  • A single seamless pathway for support for families and children and young people
  • Improved sharing of insight on the needs relating to 5-24-year-olds (or 26 if care experienced) and their families in the community
  • Providing a central point of contact
  • Building resilient communities to effectively support young people’s mental health.

This service will dove tail with the existing local service provision and operate in the school catchments of Gracemount and Liberton High School’s.

You will be an experienced therapist who has the knowledge and understanding of how to offer effective support to parents, children and young people related to their mental health and wellbeing needs. The posts are based at Goodtrees Community Centre, but you will be required to offer therapy across the locality and when appropriate in family homes and schools. Having access to a car for business use is essential.

The post is funded for 3 years.
