Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO) is a dynamic, high profile organisation that provides responsive and innovative support services and representation to the Third Sector in Orkney. The Third Sector comprises community organisations, voluntary and community organisations, volunteering and social enterprises.
We are seeking a suitably skilled and motivated person to develop and deliver an innovative community engagement project that will ensure as many people as possible, particularly those experiencing disadvantage and inequality, have a say in shaping future services as we move out of lockdown and focus on the renew agenda. In addition, you will develop programmes and mechanisms to contribute the views of the community to Locality Plans, which will be the focus of future activity for The Orkney Partnership Board.
Applicants will have an understanding of different community engagement approaches and techniques, excellent communication, presentation and reporting skills and the ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with a range of people and organisations.
Due to internal promotion we are recruiting a suitably experienced candidate to manage the expansion of an existing, innovative, community led project designed to provide a range of services to improve wellbeing in five Orkney islands.
You will work collaboratively with Island Development Trusts to extend the remit of the current project to include all age groups with a focus on social inclusion, reducing inequalities, developing community and individual resilience and improving access to services within island localities.
You will have experience of managing projects or services, an understanding of health and wellbeing issues in remote rural, island areas, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
