Tullochan annually supports over 1000 young people aged 7-24 across West Dunbartonshire through a range of development programmes in Primary and Secondary schools alongside our post-school project Tullochan Futures and 2 Social Enterprises. Many of the young people we engage with are facing barriers which impact the ability to sustain their education and potential. Our range of personal development programmes has provided essential support and services to young people for over 20 years and have been recognised locally and nationally as providing a vital contribution to the learning engagement of young people in West Dunbartonshire.

An exciting opportunity has become available within our Training Academy based in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire.

We are looking for a creative person who can design and deliver creative furniture up-cycling workshops to our young participants. Applicants should have a creative flare and have experience of working with and / or mentoring young people. Experience of carpentry / woodwork / furniture up-cycle would also be very beneficial.

The role requires a highly motivated, organised and enthusiastic team player, who will also be a positive role model to the young people we support.

Fundraising & Communications Officer

Tullochan is a youth development charity, based primarily in West Dunbartonshire, providing a range of projects and services aimed at helping young people lead full and rewarding lives and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

Tullochan provides support to young people aged 5-25 and their families through Youth Development programmes, Outdoor Learning and Health and Wellbeing Activities delivered in schools and from our Tullochan Training Academy in Alexandria. Our established Social Enterprises - ‘The Common Good’ café, ‘Fashion Fix’ and ‘The Design House’ provide real-life training opportunities for young people and a long-term pathway towards financial sustainability.

Now more than ever, young people need tailored and intensive support to help overcome the barriers preventing them from progressing positively into adulthood. We have ambitious plans to increase the targeted and tailored support and scope of opportunities for young people and families in need across West Dunbartonshire and surrounding areas.

Purpose of Role:

In this exciting new role, you will support fundraising through identifying funding opportunities and preparation of funding applications, forge relationships with a broad spectrum of income streams to facilitate growth of the charity. Communications is a key aspect of this role as the successful applicant will be lead on the organisation's social media and digital platforms and support the organisation’s Social Enterprise ventures through promotion and brand messaging.

The aim of this work is to:

  • Research and identify potential sources of funding as well as wider fundraising opportunities.
  • Coordinate, prepare and submit applications for funding as agreed with the management team and in accordance with the organisation’s objectives.
  • Work with Operations Manager to ensure that monitoring and evaluation processes are in place across funded projects, ensuring grant conditions are met.
  • Work with the management team to develop new project proposals and explore new ways of generating income.
  • Create long-term connections and relationships with a broad spectrum of income streams and funding networks including corporate donors, individual donors, trusts, and grants.
  • Raise awareness of Tullochan as a charity dedicated to supporting young people and families across West Dunbartonshire and surrounding areas.
  • Promote the positive impact of our Social Enterprises and projects being delivered by Tullochan.

Skills and Experience

This role requires experience in:

  • Preparing funding applications and bids.
  • Engaging with wider income streams – corporate, donors etc.
  • Good personal skills – proven ability to forge connections and networks
  • Managing social media channels.
  • Digital work including website maintenance.
  • Communication skills; written and verbal.

Youth Development Worker

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Deliver Outdoor Learning in Primary Schools including John Muir & RSPB Awards
  • Deliver Health and Wellbeing and Family Learning Sessions, both in Primary Schools and at the Tullochan Training Academy
  • Deliver tailored support to young people aged 16-25 to help them progress positively into employment, education or training
  • Conduct Soft-skills assessment and action planning using a range of tools and methods to assess the needs of service users and support them to create an action plan that supports progression.
  • Work towards achievement of project targets in relation to engagement, participation and progression.
  • Maintain high level of monitoring, evaluation and reporting for ‘16-25’ and ‘Schools’ projects.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Proven experience working with young people delivering group work sessions to a high standard.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to overcome a range of barriers.
  • Experience delivering outdoor learning would be desirable, enthusiasm for working outdoors with young people is essential
  • A confident motivated individual, comfortable working outdoors in all weathers and an interest in wildlife.
  • Excellent communication skills, excellent IT and organisational skills
  • Ability to maintain and develop partnerships with a wide range of organisations
  • A Driving Licence is highly desirable as travel to different locations within West Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute areas will be required in the role
  • A flexible working attitude as assistance with our Social Enterprises may be required occasionally
