Our new administration assistant will work with our internal colleagues and our external stakeholders, often providing a first point of contact for the organisation. The postholder will need to be approachable and to be able to work with sensitive and confidential information, and support diary management and data retrieval. As part of the administration team, the postholder will contribute to how we continue to develop and deliver the administration and operations processes for CELCIS, working in collaboration with colleagues to support the effective delivery of our services so that the organisation can meet our aims.

We’re looking for an experienced, creative researcher with track record in delivering programmes of improvement to join CELCIS as our new Implementation Research Fellow.

This exciting, innovative new role brings together high quality research and evaluation with our improvement and implementation activities. These are linked to range of research agendas, projects and strategic objectives including those to meet the aspirations of The Promise of the Independent Care Review, incorporation of the UNCRC into Scots law, and the Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) approach.
The focus is on developing our understanding of the role and impact of improvement and implementation support to improve lifelong outcomes for infants, children and young people; and work to identify, design, evaluate and sustain transformational change in support and services for children, young people, their families and carers across Scotland.
Do you have a strong understanding of children’s needs and their development? Do you have a track record of working with partners across the public and voluntary sector? Have you worked to embed evidence-based approaches and practices to help professionals and services adapt and change? Are you able to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences and to write and review a range of research and evaluation outputs using different media to make an impact? This role would suit candidates who have a PhD in a relevant social science discipline or equivalent research experience in a professional context, and who are able to lead programmes, work as a principal or co-investigator, apply for and manage funding grants, participate in and develop networks to foster research collaborations, and are used to informing the development of research objectives.
Our Implementation Research Fellow will need to take flexible and responsive approach within a fast-paced environment where needs can change and develop rapidly, and have a strong understanding of what it takes to lead and manage complex change including in public services.

The Operations Lead will lead on and advise senior managers to support effective services and our culture of continuous organisational learning and development. Our Operations Lead also plays a key role in supporting the CELCIS Strategic Advisory Board and has responsibility for the ongoing support for the development of our Board.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable with being responsible for consultation, planning, and quality assurance, and has a track record in using their people skills and attention to detail to ensure high quality processes in operational services. We are looking for an experienced data analyst to help develop more knowledge and understanding in Scotland of the needs, experiences and outcomes of children living in formal kinship care. This role offers the opportunity work on a new, innovative data linkage project, leading the analysis of a linked dataset comprising data from health, education, child protection, SCRA, and national ‘looked after children’, datasets.

Working at our Centre for Excellence, you will be at the forefront of administrative data research within Scotland, contributing to national learning about the benefits, limitations and challenges of conducting such research. The work from this project is designed to directly inform Scottish Government priorities, as well as provide an exemplar of the possible routine use of administrative data to inform government policy.
The role will include preparing research work for publication and disseminating the results though peer reviewed journal publications and presentation at conferences. You will be a part of the wider SCADR, Administrative Data Research – Scotland, of which CELCIS is a member, and Administrative Data Research – UK. Using these networks you will be able to share information and ideas to inform the development of research objectives, and throughout the project you will be involved in knowledge exchange events to ensure that the learning gained is made accessible and relevant to a wide range of audiences.
This role will be suitable for candidates who are educated to a minimum of PhD level in an appropriate discipline, or who have significant relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree. Candidates will need sufficient depth of knowledge in the practice of the manipulation complex datasets and the analysis of complex datasets, in order to be able to disseminate accessible results and to engage in knowledge exchange activities.

You will have an appropriate Phd, with significant experience of directly relevant roles and considerable experience of leadership and management contributing to and realising an organisation’s strategic and business objectives. You will also have extensive experience of leading projects and funding bids for research, research translation and knowledge exchange work.
A member of our Strategic Management Team, you will share responsibility for the planning and delivery of CELCIS’s strategy which prioritises supporting improvements in early help, effective decision making, and quality care, all underpinned by valuing the voice of lived experience. We are seeking a motivated individual with strategic management and leadership experience who can contribute to how we deliver our strategy and meet and exceed key stakeholder expectations.

Central to the role is delivering and co-ordinating research for this study but there will also be the opportunity to contribute to a range of research and evaluation projects relating to the work of CELCIS’s different teams at different points in time, such as on protecting children, permanence and care, improving care experiences, and continuing care into young adulthood, sharing insight, practice and evidence to support the changes we all want to see.
The role would suit candidates who have experience of being an independent researcher and a pragmatic and keen team member, knowledgeable about all aspects of research design, and work well with colleagues to integrate empirical evidence and evaluative learning.
You will have an appropriate professional qualification / relevant degree, with experience of contributing to an organisation’s collective goals by supporting research and evaluation activities across the organisation.
