We are recruiting a Services Development Manager and this new position presents an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping us to deliver our new 3-year strategy and future ambitions.

The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 3,800 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. SCMA provides a wide range of support and professional services for members including training and events as well as delivering local services. For more information visit childminding.org

The successful applicant will contribute to the growth of SCMA services across the whole organisation, planning our business and service development linked to the delivery of our organisational strategy. You will be talented and have a proven track record of securing income, and skilled at building relationships and engaging with local authorities, statutory and third sector partners, as well as grant funding bodies across Scotland. Experience of working in the childcare sector is desirable but not essential.

We require excellent written and oral communication skills, enthusiasm, self-motivation, focus and an ability to get on well with others.

The post is home/office based, requiring travel and attendance at meetings across the central belt and occasionally wider when current restrictions are lifted (including regular attendance at Head Office in Stirling). Equipment and broadband/IT connections will be provided.

The successful applicant will work alongside the Area Manager (West) to manage the effective delivery of our current Early Learning and Childcare and Community Childminding services in addition to identifying opportunities for further growth in line with our new 3-year organisational strategy. You will be adept at developing relationships, negotiating and working with partners to achieve better outcomes for children and families.

Experience of working in the childcare sector is desirable but not essential.

We require a skilled communicator with the ability to manage and motivate your team, demonstrating enthusiasm, self-motivation and focus. You will possess excellent organisational skills, be fluent in written reports and funding applications, as well as budget setting and reporting.

Childminding Development Officer(s) - Community Childminding

We are recruiting two part-time Childminding Development Officers, one in Aberdeen (12 hours post) and one in Glasgow (18 hours post), to support the delivery of community childminding services in the respective area.

You will have experience of delivering training to adults; an awareness and understanding of families

and the support needed; working collaboratively with key agencies including Early Years; and have an understanding of childminding and the role of childminders.

Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills are required and working as part of a team is

essential. You should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, self-motivation, and highly developed written and oral communication skills.

The posts are home-based but will require travel and attendance at meetings within the geographic area when current restrictions are lifted (including occasional travel to Head Office in Stirling). Equipment and broadband/IT connections will be provided.

Starting Salary: AP3 PT 23 £22,310 (pro rata) and we operate a contributory pension scheme which

you will be auto-enrolled into (subject to the conditions of the scheme).
