Safe Space is a specialist trauma agency working with adults who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, providing one to one counselling and a range of therapeutic groups. We are seeking a groupworker with extensive experience of groupwork and working with the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. The post involves working within a small team and working alongside an established groupworker and volunteer groupworkers.
The post requires some evenings and occasional weekend working.
We are particularly interested in people who have experience of running groups with parents of children who have experienced child sexual abuse.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Group Support worker supports adults who have been sexually abused in childhood through therapeutic groupwork and supports volunteer groupworkers to work within groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
To deliver a range of therapeutic groups alongside volunteer groupworkers at Safe Space.
To provide Initial Assessments for clients before groups begin.
Contribute to training workshops as required for volunteer groupworkers.
To maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
To provide monthly stats, records and documents in conjunction with the administrator.
To attend group supervision once a month and any other supervision as requested.
To undertake any other duties as is reasonable for the post.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS
A Certificate in Counselling or Groupwork, is the minimum qualification, although substantial experience in this area will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
Experience of working in the field of trauma and childhood sexual abuse.
Experience of working with parents in need of support.
Experience of delivering therapeutic groups
Experience of supporting volunteers.

Our Admin worker is retiring, and we are looking in the first instance for an Evening Receptionist who can work 3 evenings on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 4-8pm, but who might be interested in taking on additional responsibilities and hours from the Admin worker, as she nears her retirement date.
Alternatively, you may wish to apply at this stage for the wider admin role (16 hours) and prefer mostly daytime hours, with some evening work included.

Job Description
These posts are the initial contact for clients referring themselves to the service, and therefore require a sensitive, sympathetic approach. Client confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
The team consists of members of staff and several volunteer counsellors and group workers. You will be working alongside the Adult Counselling Coordinator to provide a top class service to volunteers and clients.
Evening Reception:
The post requires some flexibility over working hours. At present the required hours are 4 – 8pm, Monday and Wednesday, and 4-6 on Thursdays. The office is closed on Fridays.
Admin post:
The post requires some flexibility but would cover a mix of day and evening hours.
All Safe Space staff are required to hold Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) clearance.
Main Responsibilities-Both posts
Additional responsibilities – Admin post only (up to 16 hours)
Providing administrative support to staff and volunteers ensuring good record keeping, and maintenance of all office systems, including online accounts (Quickbooks) and Sharepoint.
Work with staff to produce data/documents as required
Liaise with external contractors (IT, accountancy)
